To whom it may concern,
I recently had the opportunity to work with Justin Houle, PT student at Eastern
Maine Medical Center; an acute care hospital in Bangor Maine. I am an Occupational
Therapist and have been working at EMMC for seven years. Justin and his clinical
instructor were assigned to the floor where I primarily work; a medical/surgical and
cardiac floor. In this type of setting we see all types of patients; post-operative, multi
trauma, orthopedic, neurology, cardiac and respiratory. Our patients often have a
myriad of lines, restrictions and considerations and can be medically fragile. This setting
is fast paced and complicated at times. Justin and I co-treated together on numerous
occasions and it was always a pleasure. Justin had excellent rapport with our patients,
asked questions when necessary and was as knowledgeable as I would expect a student
to be. Justin was caring, compassionate and able to physically move our at times heavy
and challenging patients. I could trust that when my patients were in Justin’s care, they
were receiving beneficial therapy and well taken care of. Justin knew when he needed
to consult with either I or his PT supervisor and did so appropriately. I have no doubt
that as Justin finishes his clinical time as a PT student he will be ready to enter the
medical field as an entry level PT; one whom I would trust if my family member were
one of this patients.
Sincerely,
Lindsay C. Robinson, MS, OTR/L
