1. Steve Bohn- A proven Warrior on and off the battlefield
On November 6, 2008, nine months into Steve's deployment in Afghanistan, a suicide bomber blew-up a
truck full of explosives destroying Steve's outpost and leaving him lying under a pile of debris. Steve
suffered severe spinal injuries and internal injuries, and was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury. Steve
endured two major surgeries that included resection of his small intestine and bladder reconstruction
and spent over 6 months recovering in the hospital. Upon returning home, Steve struggled to deal with
physical pain, as well emotional pain, including depression.
Through WWP, Steve has been able to connect with other warriors who were dealing with similar issues,
and in May 2011 testified to the U.S. Senate Committee about meeting the needs of veterans
transitioning back to civilian life and the need to provide wounded servicemen and women with the
benefits they deserve.
Steve has pursued his college education through WWP's TRACK program- the first educational center
designed specifically for Wounded Warriors, and is currently working towards a degree in political
science. Steve enjoys cooking, fishing and spending time with his 9-year old niece. Steve continues to
be a voice for other warriors who get lost in the red tape after being injured. “I felt lost at one point but
