ridiculous.

There was always an admiration of
something fantastic, strange,
irrational.
11. George Gordon Byron was born in London, on January 22,
1788, in an impoverished aristocratic family.
George was very lonely from early childhood.
He was lame from birth and was sensitive about it all his
life, thanks to his strong will and regular training, he
became an excellent rider, a champion swimmer, a boxer and
took part in athletic exercises.
In 1798 George’s grand-uncle died and the boy inherited the
title of baron.
George was sixteen when he fell in love with distant relative
Mary Chaworth, and in her his youthful imagination seemed
to have found the ideal of womanly perfection.
12. She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.
And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
14. In the spring of 1808 Byron graduated from the University and received
his M. A. (Master of Arts) degree and next year took his hereditary seat
in the House of Lords.
In 1815 Byron married Miss Isabella Milbanke. She was a religious woman,
cold and pedantic. It was an unlucky match.
15. My soul is dark - Oh! quickly string
The harp I yet can brook to hear;
And let thy gentle fingers fling
Its melting murmurs o'er mine ear.
If in this heart a hope be dear,
That sound shall charm it forth again:
If in these eyes there lurk a tear,
'Twill flow, and cease to burn my brain.
But bid the strain be wild and deep,
Nor let thy notes of joy be first:
I tell thee, minstrel, I must weep,
Or else this heavy heart will burst;
For it hath been by sorrow nursed,
And ached in sleepless silence, long;
And now 'tis doomed to know the worst,
And break at once - or yield to song.

17. In 1817 Byron left for Italy.
The Italian period (1817-1823), influenced by revolutionary ideas,
may be considered to be the summit of Byron’s poetical career.
He is one of the most famous English 'Romantic' poets.
Byron was also a satirist and his poetry captured the imagination
of Europe.
His major works include “Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage” (1812-18)
and “Don Juan” (1819-24), published in our literature collection.
Byron died at Missolonghi on the 18th
of April, 1824, at the age of
thirty-six.
“Tis strange – but true; for
truth is always strange;
Stranger than fiction”.
LORD BYRON, (Don Juan)
18. Die Romantik ist eine kulturgeschichtliche Epoche, die
vom Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts bis weit in das 19.
Jahrhundert hinein dauerte und sich insbesondere auf
den Gebieten der bildenden Kunst (1790–1840), der
Literatur (1795–1848) und der Musik äußerte.
19. Heinrich Heine wurde am 13. Dezember 1797 in

seinerseits. Nachdem er sein

ein nicht langweiliges Wanderleben.
Hamburg, Lüneburg, München,
Londen, Italien, Berlin gehörten zu
seinen Zielen, um nur einige zu
nennen. Heine liebte und genoss
das Leben. Er war selbstbewusst
und auch etwas eitel. Zwar war er
nie besonders reich, doch durch
seinen Onkel und seine
niedergeschriebenen Werke hatte
er immer genug Geld, um sich im
Leben keine Sorgen machen zu
21. Heinrich Heine war ein großer
Dichter, der schöne, schlichte
Gedichte schrieb. Einige davon
wurden auch zu deutschen
Volksliedern verarbeitet. Ein
Beispiel dafür ist das Gedicht
“Ich weiß nicht, was soll es
bedeuten…”.
Heinrich Heine lebte zu einer
Zeit der Romantik, in der man
das Gefühl und die Phantasie
besonders hervorzuheben
lernte. Davon handeln ebenso
auch seine Gedichte. Von
Liebe und von schönen, edlen
Gefühlen.
Heinrich Heines Lebenslauf
war zwar geprägt von vielen
Schicksalsschlägen, doch war
er nun einmal ein großer
Dichter seiner und der
heutigen Zeit.
22. «Die Lorelei» – Heinrich Heine
Ich weiss nicht, was soll es bedeuten,
Dass ich so traurig bin,
Ein Märchen aus uralten Zeiten,
Das kommt mir nicht aus dem Sinn.
Die Luft ist kühl und es dunkelt,
Und ruhig fliesst der Rhein;
Der Gipfel des Berges funkelt,
Im Abendsonnenschein.
Die schönste Jungfrau sitzet
Dort oben wunderbar,
Ihr goldnes Geschmeide blitzet,
Sie kämmt ihr goldenes Haar,
Sie kämmt es mit goldenem Kamme,
Und singt ein Lied dabei;
Das hat eine wundersame,
Gewaltge Melodei.
Den Schiffer im kleinen Schiffe,
Ergreift es mit wildem Weh;
Er schaut nicht die Felsenriffe,
Er schaut nur hinauf in die Höh’.
Ich glaube, die Wellen verschlingen
Am Ende Schiffer und Kahn,
Und das hat mit ihrem Singen,
Die Loreley getan.

24. «Dass du mich liebst»
Daß du mich liebst, das wusst
ich,
Ich hatt’ es längst entdeckt;
Doch als du mir’s gestanden
Hat es mich tief erschreckt.
Ich stieg wohl auf die Berge
Und jubelte und sang;
Ich ging ans Meer und weinte
Beim Sonnenuntergang.
Mein Herz ist wie die Sonn
So flammend anzusehn,
Und in ein Meer von Liebe
Versinkt es groß und schön
Heinrich Heine
И знал уже давно;
И пел, и ликовал;
