2. INTRODUCTION
Primary food security is entirely dependent on the
volume of rice production
Growth of rice production was much faster than the
growth of population
Cultivable land is continuously reducing day by day
Bangladesh has more than doubled the production of
rice because of modern variety
3. OBJECTIVES
To know about the modern rice varieties developed
by different Bangladeshi organization
To Promote higher productive, cost effective and
environmentally sustainable varieties of rice
To improve the food security in Bangladesh
4. MATERIALS AND METHODS
The seminar paper was prepared on the basis of secondary
data.
Data collected from
- Journals
- Proceedings
- Survey report
- Internet
- Contact resource personnel etc.
Collected data have been compiled and prepared this
seminar paper.
7. Every country should have
their own food security
Food Security: When all people at all times have access to
sufficient, safe, nutritious food to maintain a healthy and active life
then it called food security.
8. Things affecting food security:
1. Flood in Pakistan and
China
2. Wild Fire in Russia and
Portugal
3. Flood in Australia
The consequences are in speculation on food crisis
9. Number of Modern rice variety developed
by different Bangladeshi organization

BAU – 3
BSMRAU - 1
Hybrids BRRI – 4

14. Way of overcome this situation:
Exploitation of high yield
Quality grain
Shorter maturity
Biotic stress tolerance
Abiotic stress tolerance
Salinity
Submergence
Cold tolerance
High temperature
Drought

18. Rice production is increase in Bangladesh
from 10 million metric ton to 25 million metric
ton now. However, there is no reason to be
complacent. The population of Bangladesh is
still growing by two million every year and
may increase by another 30 million over the
next 20 years. Thus, Bangladesh will require
about 27.26 million tons of rice for the year
2020.
Conclusion
20. Short duration modern variety rice should be introduce
where local variety is cultivated.
Need to cultivation of stress tolerant rice to combat the
adverse effect of climate change:
-Submergence
-Drought
-Salt
Replacement of the present varieties by superior
inbred, hybrid and super high yielding varieties
