Your organization is affected by external change.
 A price increase in oil will cost more for your team to drive
to work.
Your customers are affected by internal change.
 An organizational decision to manufacture a widget in new
colors will drive buying decisions of your customers.
You and your entire team are affected by organizational
change.
WHAT IS CHANGE?
Change influencing your workplace is caused by events out
of your control. These events lead to decisions which result
in change in your organization. Change is inevitable.
• A coworker being promoted will lead to a change in the
organizational structure of your team.
• A decision by your CEO to sponsor The Olympics® will
lead to change on a number of levels in your organization.
WHERE IS CHANGE
OCCURRING?
Change is constantly occurring around you.
 Change is being driven by customer preference in the
marketplace.
 Decisions to change are occurring in organizational
meetings that you are not invited to.
HOW TO MANAGE ABOVE THE
WAVES OF CHANGE
• Develop a playbook of scenarios that prioritize change
affecting your organization.
• Proactively lead reoccurring group meetings with key
stakeholders in your organization to review potential
changes that will affect you, your team and your
organization.
• Proactively facilitate one-on-one meeting with members of
you team to understand how they view upcoming change.
• Value change as ongoing and constant.
• Embrace change as necessary and inevitable.
