The document discusses and analyzes various location options for scenes in a music video. It proposes using a multi-story car park for the opening shot to link the visuals to the lyrics. It also suggests a street corner where the main characters could bump into each other, as well as a warehouse for a fight scene during the chorus. Additional locations mentioned include a typical stage for performance shots and a flat or house for an arguing scene. The locations aim to relate visually to the song lyrics and fit common scenarios seen in movies and television.
2. The very first shot of our music video is a shot of the main character walking up the stairs of a
multi story car park during the lyrics “I’m coming up, I’m sorted”. This is one of the first times we
plan to link the lyrics to a literal action in the music video. This is an example of relating the
visuals to the song which is one of Andrew Goodwin’s music video theories.
A shot after this would be the character standing near the edge of the car park panning to show
a scar on the main characters head. This would be used in a way to foreshadow future events or
even highlight past ones as the character in our video has gone through numerous perils.
3. • Later on there is another scene where the two main character
bump into each other at a street corner before they are
partners. We decided to use a street corner locations because
it would be a fitting place for someone to easily bump into
another person. During this scene the lyrics ‘it was bad
timing’ are being said so the character would be looking at his
watch (again, relating the visuals to the song) and then bump
into the other character.
4. • A typical stage is a location that we are going to use a
number of times in the music video. This will be the
place where the singer of the song is playing his guitar
and singing. While out music video has narrative
elements we didn’t want to ignore the performance
side of the video. We would use clips of this location to
break up certain narrative scenes to avoid the
abundance of these scenes.
5. • A warehouse type location is the one that will be used for the
majority of the chorus. A fight scene between the two main
characters will take place here and we decided to use a location
like this because it seems fitting that a villain would perhaps want
to meet there with the person they were fighting. This location is
typically used in superhero movies and TV shows so again we
thought it would be a fitting location.
6. • Another scene in our music video is where the two main character
are arguing in their flat/house. The location would be someone's
living room preferably with a sofa in the middle of the room so we
could show the male character sitting down looking disinterested
while the female character is pacing behind the sofa shouting
abuse at him etc. This kind of scenario is very common in movies
and TV shows so we thought it would be a fitting location
considering out music video is about superhero's.
