he NCEE (1973-‐1994) was taken by every graduating
high school student to be admitted to a degree
course in higher education in the Philippines.
The intention was to screen graduating high
school students if they are eligible to study for
college.

A college entrance exam is a standardized
aptitude test that measures your aptitude in
various areas such as verbal, math, analytical
and writing skills. These tests are not designed
to measure what you have learned in school;
rather, they measure your potential to perform
well in the future.

The NCEE exam was organised for every
graduating high school student who wants to be
admitted to a degree course in higher
education in the Philippines.
The purpose of NCEE was to screen graduating
high school students whether they are eligible
to study for college or not.

Previously, Education Secretary Raul Roco said
he wanted high school students to have a
better career and they must be able to enter
college.
Roco said the NCEE was abolished because it
disqualified students from taking four year
college courses.
The students who failed to qualify bNCEE were
disqualified from taking four-year college
courses.

NEAT or National Elementary Aseessment Test is to
be taken by grade 6 students to aseess their
skills of graduating ans stepping into the
secondary level of education.
NSAT aims to assess the abilities and skills of
graduating fourth year students to determine
their knowledge and capabilities in five (5)
subject areas: English, Filipino, Science,
Mathematics and Araling Panlipunan (Social
Studies).

When the Department of Education, Culture and
Sports (DECS) was officially converted into the
Department of Education (DepEd), the NEAT and
NSAT were also abolished and replaced by the
National Achievement Test (NAT).
