The holiday season (Thanksgiving thru New Year’s) is always talked about as the time to relax with friends and family, reflect on the previous year, think about the coming year, and just unwind a bit. I find it anything but that. This time of year consists of deciding what family member is hosting what event? Do you have to travel, how far? If you aren’t traveling, how much food do you need to buy? What about gifts, for who, and how much? There are various Christmas and Holiday parties everywhere. Oh, wait this project must be completed before such and such date. Oh, and we must get this done before this person leaves. I think you get the picture. I think for a lot of us, we may get to unwind on the holiday itself, but the time surrounding those couple of days is pure chaos and pandemonium. Having all of these extra commitments on top of work will definitely affect our decision-making ability and compound our stress. Check out this slide deck on Decision Fatigue and the steps I use to remove the clutter from my head. Let me know how you reduce stress in your decision-making life!
