Matching elements ofnewspaper in Shakespeare article – students will be given labels to
match on the Shakespeare article.They will complete this in groups, and will also learn
what goes into a newspaper article
Brief explanations ofeach element – after discussion of each element,students will write
a one sentence summary for each. This will remind students what each elementis
Headlines – what persuasive techniques are used to draw the reader in? Students will
discuss this and write down some of the techniques used.
Direct vs. reported speech – differences between directand reported speech. Students
will have to change from directto reported and visa versa.
Opening paragraph – students will have to analyse opening paragraph ofthe article,
writing down what they learn from it.
Developing a newspaper report – discussing the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of a newspaper
Cognitive challenges:
Desirable difficulties for all abilities; how will students progress?
To write an opening of a newspaper report – students will recall a time where
something major happened in their lives. They will mindmap some of their ideas
and then write it using the details I have given them.
