Sustainable Sudbury.org was founded in 1990 as the Earth Decade Committee to commemorate Earth Day and is now a chapter of the Massachusetts Climate Action Network and member of Transition Massachusetts. Some of its initiatives have included establishing an Energy and Sustainability Green Ribbon Committee, participating in the Solarize Mass program which installed over 1.28 megawatts of solar across 137 systems, and operating plastics and Styrofoam recycling collections since 1994. The organization focuses on forging partnerships, promoting community participation through educational events, and sharing best practices. Future plans include auditing municipal facilities and expanding bike infrastructure and energy initiatives.
