Description of Camera Angles

1. DIFFERENT CAMERA

2. ARIEL SHOT
A shot that has been taken above and
object, used to emphasise distance of
spectacle.

3. CANTED SHOT
A camera angle which is
deliberately slanted to one side,
sometimes used for dramatic effect to
help portray unease, disorientation.

4. CLOSE UP (EXTREME, BIG AND
MEDIUM)

5. CRAB SHOT
A Crab shot tends to mean in-and-out
movement, used inside cupboards,
under beds, fridges etc…

6. DEEP FOCUS
A shot that has a main object in
front which is in focus, but the
background is also in focus as
well.

7. ESTABLISHING SHOT
An establishing shot is usually the
first shot of a new scene, designed to show
the audience where the action is taking
place. It is usually a very wide shot or
extreme wide shot.

8. HAND HELD SHOT
Shot that is filmed by hand, you can
usually tell by shakiness etc…

9. HIGH ANGLE SHOT
Can be used to make
objects seem lesser.

10. LONG SHOT
Can be used to emphasise distance,
spectacle. Used for numerous effects.

11. LOOSE FRAME
Object has been isolated, has other
things around it.

12. LOW ANGLE SHOT
Used to give something
superiority, makes objects seem
larger.

13. MASTER SHOT
Very similar to establishing shot, can
be used to set a scene.

14. PAN SHOT
Used when filming moving objects, can track
on object making it clearer. Emphasises
movement.

15. POV
Can be used to put an audience
into the shoes of the film, very
effect to emphasise any emotion
in audience.
