Timing: 2-3 minutes Purpose: Use this slide to initiate a conversation on the future: where Microsoft is headed, where the customer’s industry is headed, and where the customer itself is headed. Presenter guidance: For a deeper conversation on Microsoft’s vision for the enterprise, see the Enterprise Vision & Roadmap Customer Presentation (NDA and non-NDA formats available) at //roadmap. Key Points:[Devices]As we look ahead, we’re continuing to think about what devices people will use to interact with computing. In addition to bringing new devices to market, we’ve made continued investments in Windows and Windows Phone to accommodate the new landscape of devices and a connected computing experience. For example, we’re envisioning a seamless development experience in which applications can be created once and run across a range of devices—from PC to Xbox to phone—with a similar experience optimized for each device. In the near future, we see devices becoming more interactive, larger, and more versatile. It’s not just about portability, but also about integrating technology into your environment. With our acquisition of Perceptive Pixel (PPI), for example, we’re envisioning a change in the computing landscape within an office, with giant, multitouch displays.Microsoft PixelSense today provides a 360-degree interface that responds to touch and real-world objects, supporting more than 50 simultaneous inputs.Farther out, computing displays may someday evolve into the capability to turn any wall, table, fixture, or furniture into its own interactive interface. A Microsoft Research project, Skinput technology appropriates the human body for acoustic transmission, allowing the skin to be used as an input surface. This may someday transform, for example, how we dial a phone or provide input into computing systems. As technology continues to evolve, Microsoft will continue to offer the devices and the experiences that people expect.[Services]Services bring these devices to life. As a services company, we are reimagining how we deliver value as we embrace a more open, connected environment. We are focusing on how we can deliver value in such a way as it can be consumed using different devices. With cloud computing as a basis for services, we can realize our vision for providing a consistent platform, whether it’s run in our data center, a customer’s data center, or a partner’s. This continuity is the foundation for a consistent user experience on any device. In addition to supporting our own devices, we make our services compatible with other devices our customers use, such as Android and iPhone. We’ve been a software provider for 37+ years and have had a big commitment to consumer services for a long time. Seven years ago, we made a big commitment to enterprise services, and services like Windows Azure and Office 365 illustrate the progress we’ve made. As our consumer and enterprise services evolve and customers progressively rely more heavily on cloud computing, privacy, security, and controlare paramount.
