2. Process
For the first day of my production I made the scrolling background for my
game. First I went on paletton.com and got two colour pallets one for the
colour scheme of the aliens in the game which consisted of different shades
of dark blue and another colour pallet for the background of the game which
was a red colour pallet. To help me get started with the background I took a
picture of a pixel are space ship and took the bases of the background into my
design so I had a starting point before making it more unique to my game, I
found this really helped me add a professional look to my pixel game as I took
inspiration from a really pixel game.
3. Process
For the second day of my production I started the design for my characters. I
started off with a stick figure for a skeleton for the characters so I had
something to draw onto. I then took my time to get the space I wanted for my
characters and I did this all in the base colour so there was no shading or
anything to start off with. I then later added shading to show depth and add
more detail to the characters. I also made the targets and lasers for the gun to
start off.
4. Process
For the third day of production I started to make the running cycles for my
characters I used skeletons for the outline of each frame of the running cycle I
then erased the legs of the character for each copy and redrew them in there
new positons. This took a few redraws as I had to keep the legs to the same
design as in the standing position. I drew all the different positions on a
separate document to the background so I could animate and test everything
before adding to my main document and final work. I tested all my
animations before putting them into my final document so I knew everything
worked and it would be easier to animate all together at the end.
5. Process
For my final day of production I took all of my characters and effects and put
them into one document where I animated them all together. This took a bit
of time and I had to re-do a few things a couple times as it did not all work at
first but I eventually got it working and finished everything off. One I had
finished animating I went onto beepbox.com and created the music for my
game and other sound effects for the game. I recorded the running sound
effects myself with a handheld sound recorder then added into my game so it
sounded like the character was really running.
