Producing a music magazine involves various differentsteps that are vitally important to meet deadlines and get the
magazine out to the public with a high standard. You firstneed to start off by agreeing date that the magazinewill be
completed by. This will enable you to create a schedule so you can begin to plan the steps you need to take to get the
magazine on the shelves by the completion date. The schedule needs to allow for any issues thatmay occur so that you
can work around them and still get the productfinished on time. You then need to decide what content will need to go in
the magazineand how you will put it in along with any visual aids like graphics and pictures. After this the necessary
content will need to be gathered. This can be done both internally by the staff writers and externally by commissioned
writers. Photographs and graphics willalso need to be generated and all of this will need to be arranged on the pages in
an ordered layout.
After all of this has been completed, sub-editing willneed to be carried out wheresomeonereads over all of the content
and checks to see if: the facts are accurate, spelling, punctuation and grammar are correct, a house style has been
followed, the page layout is as good as it can be. A hard copy will then be made and thoroughly proof-read through and if
any mistakes are spotted then the DTP (desktop publishing file) will be edited. Finally the file will be sent to a printing
company where a few hard copies will be made and sent back to the magazineproducer for final inspection. After one
final check has been completed the magazinecompany will give the printing company the green light to producethe
thousands of copies that the public will be able to buy and consume. The magazines will be boxed and sealed then sent
fromthe printing company to a warehousewherethey will be distributed to shops to be sold.

My magazinewill be released monthly and will be distributed around the UK and also to the US and Ireland. Bauer media
that publish 100’s of magazines worldwideincluding my magazine of inspiration “Kerrang” will distribute my magazine
“Recoil”. This on averagecould cost up to $20 US dollars per magazine however money fromadvertising helps to keep the
sale costs of the magazine down.
