Chicago, where I am from, is called the "Windy
City." In the winter a cold wind blows off Lake
Michigan and it snows a lot. The temperature gets
very cold, sometimes below zero.
In the spring the weather is great. It's warm and the
snow melts. People plant gardens and start to play
outdoor sports like baseball.
In the summer it's hot and sometimes humid. People
swim and turn on their air conditioners to keep
cool. Sometimes it rains or we get thunderstorms.
In the fall it's cool. People prepare for winter and buy
warm clothes like coats and hats. The leaves change
colors and fall from the trees. It's very beautiful.
Exercise 4: Answer the following questions based on the
    previous text. (Send it by email).

Example: When does the temperature get below zero?
         The temperature gets below zero in winter.

  2. Why do people buy warm clothes in fall?

       Affirmative structure:

DID = I / YOU / HE / SHE / IT / WE / THEY


             Interrogative structure:
Did + noun + verb (in present) + complement + ?

              Affirmative structure:

               Negative structure:

Dear Marie:
It's the third day of our cruise. We went to
the beach on the first day. The children
played in the sand and swam in the ocean
while my husband and I relaxed in the sun Marie Baker
and drank cocktails. I also went snorkeling 123 First Avenue
and saw a lot of colorful fish.              San Diego, CA 54321


The food on the ship is fantastic. We ate at
the buffet last night and we ate in the
dining room the night before. It's a
beautiful ship. It has a huge pool which
we swam in yesterday afternoon.
I hope things are going well at work. I'll be
back soon.
