The Advent season is celebrated in the four weeks before Christmas to commemorate the coming of Jesus Christ. Each Sunday of Advent has a special candle lit that represents an aspect of preparation - the first candle is Hope, the second is Peace, the third is Joy, and the fourth is Love. A white Christ candle is lit on Christmas Eve.
