Relating the key facts to my place of work, that is Ministry of Physical Planning and
Urban Development, Ogun State, Nigeria.
Harness the Value of Data
Data can improve people lives in differs ways but equitable distribution of
benefits depends largely on economic and political factors e.g Data has helped
in the provision of employment for 1000 unemployed youth into teaching
service of the state.
A data’s full value entails repeated reusing and repurposing, this has helped
to identify the less privilege and those that are lagging behind in infrastructural
facilities and thus receiving attention of the Government
A trust environment is needed to safeguard against harmful misuse of data.
A strong data governance framework composed of appropriate policies, laws,
regulations and institution is needed to ensure that the full value of data is
realized and shared safely and equably.
2. The economics, data and political economy issues. This can be illustrated with
data life cycle in figure 1.0

In this case the department of Information Research and Records are saddled with
the responsibility of all that we have in fig. 1 above but make sure the data collated
and available for all department in the ministry and the state as a whole to guide
developments.
Proposed Solution
The use of data has helped to determine or measure the progress performance
of each MDA.
The use of data is changing the provision of infrastructure with dividend of
democracy with equity and fairness.
Government Policy that support Culture of Data
1. It is mandatory for all MDA to collate data on their activities weekly and
submit same on monthly basis for progress performance.
2. Provision of Registration ledger to collate activities of the state.
3. Capturing of all public and private activities in the state.
Target Audience
The target audience includes the School Student, Government Officials, Low-
Income Earners and Middle-Income Earners, the Political Appointees and Captain
of Industries and Civil Societies.
The project is conveying the collation of Data, Processing of Data, Storage of
Data, Transferring and Sharing of Data, Analysis of Data and use of Data, how Data
to archive and preserve data and destruction of Data (if not useful again). Data from
4. Public and Private sector have helped and still helping decision on developmental
project and provision of dividend of democracy with a central units for data
processing and storage in MDAs of Ogun State.
