• There is no word in Arabic corresponding to the
word “a” in English as in “this is a book”.
• The tanwin ٌ◌ symbol at the end of an Arabic
noun is an indefinite article that means “a/an”.

7. The particle ‫أ‬ placed at the beginning of a
statement turns it into a question.
