As it is said that it is the health that is the real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver. But the health care system in our Indian economy suffers with a lot of drawbacks hampering its functioning. Some of the major concerns are discussed in this presentation, and to subdue these discrepancies needs to be given due consideration.

2. Delivery of qualitative healthcare services is considered a basic need.
Indian healthcare system faces substantial challenges in providing
qualitative healthcare.
It is true that the world’s most populous democratic country cannot
provide proper healthcare facilities to its entire population.
Healthcare is a neglected issue in India. Lack of resources in rural India is
a major concern of the day, leading to most of the problems.
50% of all villagers have no access to healthcare providers; Infant
mortality rate is 34 per 1000 live births; lack of nutrition caused stunning
growth in 50% of all babies; and 36% population have no access to toilets.
The main challenges are :-

9.  The National Health Policy recommends increasing the outlay- center
and state combined – to 2.5%. It also recommends that state budgets
increase health allocation 8% of total budget.
 Higher wages and better living conditions in smaller towns and villages
will enable medical staff and doctors to be able to work there.
 More funding on medical and nursing colleges and technical training
centers would help in opening new colleges in more locations. This
would produce more number of skilled medical manpower to cater to
the huge demands of our population.
 With more funding the government can provide free treatment
through the public health system so that health services can be availed
within pocket.
