Must draw from the deep-core of their identity as working-class
women of color who belong to a culture other than the
dominant one.

Esperanza is a critical eye to what will befall working-class
Chicanas if they don’t become educated and WRITE!
Esperanza seeks self-empowerment through writing, while
recognizing her commitment to a community of Chicanas.
Passed down the power of writing and of women through
the publication of her book. Shows community with other
women.
