2. WHY PITCH
What's a pitch?
Not how high your voice can go.
Not a presentation that answers all the questions.
Not your business plan copy/pasted into PPT.
It is a way to open investors' mind to your vision.
It is a way to tell the story you care about most.
It is a way to grab interest and invite further
conversation.
An effective pitch is the simplest and most concise
way to get investors to consider opening their wallets.
'Effective' meaning there is a way to get this right.
Here it is.
4. 10 SLIDE DECK
No one has time to waste. Especially in a pitch
deck. Stick to ten slides to make your impression. If
you can't get your idea into ten slides, it may not be
refined enough and you need to polish it off before
you show it off.
Here are your slides:
1. Title and Basic Info
2. Problem
3. Solution
4. Business Model
5. Your Secret Sauce
6. Marketing and Sales
7. Competition
8. Team
9. Key Finances
10. Timeline/Accomplishments
5. 20 MINUTE PITCH
You may have an hour meeting. That doesn't mean
you should be talking for 60 minutes. Count on
talking for 10-15 minutes, and use the rest of the
time for Q&A.
While people are staring at your deck for twenty
minutes, give them something to look at.
Use figures and
icons to show
numbers and
strategy.
Make sure your conclusions
or assumptions clearly flow
out of data.
Provide visuals for
partners,
competition,
achievements, etc.
6. 20 MINUTE PITCH
