1. BEFORE THE START OPERATIONS SAFETY IS FIRST
1.1 Wear all safety PPEs like Uniform, Aprons, Safety Shoes, Safety Helmet, Hand Gloves,
Safety Goggles, Safety Belt with lifeline, Retractable fall arrester, Safety net.
1.2 Checking of healthiness of scaffolding / ladder.
1.3 Checking of availability and fitness of working platform.
1.4 Checking of availability of sufficient illuminations at work spot.
1.5 Checking of availability of provision for tightening of safety belt.
1.6 Checking of conditions of safety net and rigging the safety net properly at the job
site.
1.7 Taking the clearance form area owner, safety depts. and other relevant inter-
nfluencing depts.
1.8 Safety permit, safety protocol, job methodology should be present at work site.
2. CHECKING OF SAFETY
2.1 Site Clearance/Area Barricading where painting work is propose and carried out.
2.2 Standard Aluminum Ladder/Stair to be used for approaching the height.
2.3 All safety permit system must be fulfilled.
2.4 All safety PPEs & Jhula, Safety belt, Full body safety harness, retractable fall

2.6 Valid height pass of workers must be ensured during painting work as per safety.

3. PRECAUTIONS
3.2.1 Never put body or any body part below any suspended load.
3.2.2 Never use mobile while working at height.
3.2.3 Always tie safety belt and lifeline during working at height.
3.2.4 Always tie safety belt and lifeline in static and load bearing object.
3.2.5 Always use retractable fall arrester during working at height.
4. PROCEDURE OF STRUCTURE AND BUILDING PAINTING
4.1 After obtaining the safety permission, the contractor shall start the work after
completing the work permit formats.
4.2 Before starting painting work, proper barricading of the area should be ensured, floor
should be covered by using tarpaulin or mat if required.
4.3 After barricading standard ladder or scaffolding should be ensured for reaching at
height and safety net should be used according to requirement.
4.4 Scrub the surface properly by using very through Grit Blasting vacuum cleaning of dry air
cleaning as per IS 9954-1981 or as per SA3 Extremely aggressive blast cleaning.
4.5 All ingredients in a paint container shall be thoroughly mixed to breakup lumps
and disperse pigments before use and during application to maintain homogeneity. Mixing
shall be mechanical except when the container size is 20 liters or less mixing by air
bubbling is not permitted. All pigmented paints shall be strained after mixing to remove
shins and other undesirable matters. Dry pigments, pastes, tinting and colors shall be
mixed and/or made into paints so that all dry powders get wetted by vehicles,
14. and lumps and particles are uniformly dispersed. Additives that are received separately such as
curing agents, catalysts, hardeners etc. shall be added to the paint as per manufacturer’s
instructions. These shall be promptly used within the pot life specified by the manufacturers and
unused paint thereafter discarded. Thinners shall not be used unless essential for proper
application of the paint. Where thinners are used they shall be added during the mixing process
and the type and quantity of thinner shall be in accordance with the instructions of the paint
manufacturer.
4.6 After surface preparation apply one coat primer paint on prepared surface then leave it for
getting properly dry.
4.7 After primer painting apply first intermediate coat of desired paint and leave it for getting
properly dry.
4.8 After ensure proper dryness of first coat paint apply finish coat of paint and leave it for
getting dry.
4.9 After completion of the work housekeeping of the area should be done, remove all the
drops of paint on floor barricading and tarpaulin or mat.
4.10 Permit must be surrendered and submitted to the issuing department.
5. MONITORING POINTS
5.1 Availability of safety work permit, Safety protocol and height pass at work site.
5.2 Signatures of issuing authority and name of workers in safety permit.
5.3 Availability and usage of safety PPEs.
5.4 Full time availability of safety officer and area owner.
