marketing teams to make more effective, targeted business decisions. Carozzi
partnered with SAP and Entel to upgrade their mobile devices and implement the SAP
Managed Mobility Platform, resulting in higher organizational efficiencies and
ultimately driving increased revenue for the business.

Carozzi: Over 100 Years of
Market Leadership
Carozzi S.A. is a publicly held corporation
based in Santiago, Chile, that specializes in food
manufacturing and distribution internationally.
Founded by Augusto Carozzi Passani in 1898 as a
restaurant and pasta producer, Carozzi has grown to
become one of the largest conglomerates in
Latin America with over 10,000 employees and
annual revenues of close to $1.3 billion. Today, the
company produces a wide variety of food items
ranging from pastas and breakfast cereals to candy,
beverages, tomato sauce and even pet food. Carozzi
exports products to more than thirty countries
worldwide including Brazil, Japan, Mexico, and the
United States.
Carozzi’s production plants located in Chile, Peru,
and Argentina boast some of the most advanced
technology in food processing. The company also
owns and operates agricultural land covering more
than 70,000 hectares throughout Chile and has
contracts with over 3,500 farmers.
For over 100 years, Carozzi has upheld a strategy
of adapting to changing conditions by refocusing
efforts in order to make the most out of the

Meeting market needs via
actionable insights
While manufacturing and distributing over 1,000
products through complex production lines and
sales channels, access to information is paramount
to success across all levels of Carozzi’s supply
chain. As their sales force strived to stay close to
customers and better understand their needs, their
ability to access valuable, real-time information
was limited by outdated mobile technology not
compatible with other applications used throughout
the organization. They lacked important, up-to-date
information needed to support sales discussions
with channel customers.
Carozzi wanted to share store data collected through
mobile technologies with marketing teams, to allow
them to tailor messaging and in-store promotions
to better meet known customer needs, and to use
allotted shelf space more effectively.
“There is a lot of information that is currently
available at the point of sale. It’s important for us
to provide a platform that is capable of capturing
this information in order to be competitive,” said
Adolfo Salvatierra Guzman, Chief Information
Officer, Carozzi.
By improving the delivery of real-time data,
Carozzi also aimed to provide management with
the ability to monitor the business for overall
operational effectiveness.
Carozzi committed to upgrading its outdated
mobility platform to meet sales needs, which would
then improve efficiencies across the organization. Its
goal was to develop a new sales platform that could
integrate with existing applications, compile data
from multiple sources, and provide an accessible,
360 degree view of operations.

A proven mobility platform
A team comprised of Carozzi executives, IT
professionals and end-users spent two months
undertaking a complete evaluation of competing
mobility management providers, including SAP,
Motorola and Tecnocom. Carozzi selected SAP
for its proven platform and innovation in mobile
technologies. The simple integration between the
SAP Managed Mobility Platform and Carozzi’s
existing applications, along with the mature,
well-developed applications ensured delivery of
a cohesive overall solution that would give
Carozzi the actionable information they needed
to be competitive.
Prior to engaging SAP, Carozzi also performed
a detailed financial analysis of the new solution
through which they found significant reductions in
hardware and operating costs compared to their
current platform using Windows 6 devices.
“Our findings indicated that both hardware and
operations would be cheaper with the SAP Managed
Mobility Platform. With the previous solution we
paid up to $1700 per device, compared to $120 per
device on the new SAP platform,” said Salvatierra.
The per unit cost savings combined with SAP’s
Software-as-a-Service model reduced the upfront
investment required for the project and made it
easier for Carozzi to engage.

synchronizing the important information their
workforce needs to provide a strategic advantage in
marketing, sales and across the supply chain.

Real-time, integrated information with
SAP Managed Mobility Platform
The SAP Managed Mobility Platform (MMP) allows
Carozzi to capture real-time data from a variety of
existing back-end ERP systems. The solution, based
on the Entel FVM application, enables them to make
purchase orders, payments, and deliveries and
control online stock, providing tighter management
and supply chain efficiencies. Carozzi sales teams
will have online access to this information to inform
stronger business decisions and better meet
customer needs.
The first phase of the implementation will be a
migration of 200 Windows 6 sales team devices to
the new SAP Managed Mobility Platform on multi-
OS devices, including iOS and Android. Chile’s Entel
Communications will support the migration, provide
hosting services, and manage all SAP infrastructure.
The Carozzi, SAP, and Entel teams are working
collaboratively on the implementation, leveraging
deep, varied expertise and product knowledge.
“Entel has strong business and technical knowledge
of our systems. They understand our support and
integration needs and our technology roadmap.
They are dedicated to the project’s success, have
put their strongest resources on the account, and
have shown significant executive level support from
the beginning,” said Salvatierra.
Carozzi expects a seamless one-month
implementation, during which Entel will provide
ongoing helpdesk and overall support for
transitioning users.
“With the SAP solution, we have all of the information available to us online and offline,
so if we’re selling a product we know the exact status of that product at that very
moment while in front of the customer. With this information we can ensure that their
order will be delivered to them the next day.”

Leveraging Mobile Technologies for
Greater Sales and Staff Productivity
SAP’s Managed Mobility Platform will enable
Carozzi employees to access valuable, synchronized
information throughout the supply chain, from
product inventory to point of sale. Marketing teams
will collect actionable information on customers
and store environments in order to better target
sales opportunities, and better align products to
promotions at point of sale. Sales teams will use
online, real-time data to get the product inventory
information they need to provide better service to
their customers.
“Now that sales teams gain a better understanding
of their space, they supply the right quantities of
the right products, aligned with promotions at the
right time to finally achieve higher overall sales,”
said Salvatierra. By better managing inventory,
Salvatierra anticipates improved performance in
sales and distribution which will ultimately drive
enhanced customer satisfaction. He added,“We
are going to give customers better service than
competitors, which will lead to greater market share.”
Salvatierra also noted that with the flexibility of the
SAP platform to run on any device or operating
system, combined with security and deployment
managed by Afaria, they could anticipate a
$600,000 reduction in hardware costs for 375 sales
employees in South America. The SAP Managed
Mobility Platform will improve Carozzi’s operational
efficiencies, allowing sales and marketing teams
to be more effective and enabling them to be
more competitive in the marketplace while driving
increased revenue for the business.

Driving growth through
increased information
Carozzi has a very clear and structured technology
roadmap that includes further implementation of the
SAP Managed Mobility Platform for sales teams in
Peru and Ecuador, as well as additional plans to roll
out SAP mobility across the company starting with
finance, operations, and distribution.
Additionally, Salvatierra and his team would like
to securely apply the mobile solution to capture
valuable information within Carozzi’s agricultural
division which is currently made up of over 70,000
hectares of land across Chile. Access to data on
soil quality and makeup, fertilization, and status
of cultivation would provide new opportunities to
improve processes and efficiencies that could lead to
increased production.
“Even with a very mature project management
team, we have learned a lot from SAP and Entel
while developing the new solution, and will apply
this knowledge to other projects in the future,”
finished Salvatierra.

Founded by Augusto Carozzi Passani in 1898 as a restaurant and pasta producer, Carozzi has grown to become one of the largest conglomerates in Latin America with over 10,000 employees and annual revenues of close to $1.3 billion. Today, the company produces a wide variety of food items ranging from pastas and breakfast cereals to candy, beverages, tomato sauce and even pet food. Carozzi exports products to more than thirty countries worldwide including Brazil, Japan, Mexico, and the United States. Carozzi’s production plants located in Chile, Peru, and Argentina boast some of the most advanced technology in food processing. The company also owns and operates agricultural land covering more than 70,000 hectares throughout Chile and has contracts with over 3,500 farmers. Executive overview Company Vision Why SAP Solution Benefits Future plans SAP Customer Success Story | Consumer Goods | Carozzi Meeting market needs via actionable insights While manufacturing and distributing over 1,000 products through complex production lines and sales channels, access to information is paramount to success across all levels of Carozzi’s supply chain. As their sales force strived to stay close to customers and better understand their needs, their ability to access valuable, real-time information was limited by outdated mobile technology not compatible with other applications used throughout the organization. They lacked important, up-to-date information needed to support sales discussions with channel customers. Carozzi wanted to share store data collected through mobile technologies with marketing teams, to allow them to tailor messaging and in-store promotions to better meet known customer needs, and to use allotted shelf space more effectively. “There is a lot of information that is currently available at the point of sale. It’s important for us to provide a platform that is capable of capturing this information in order to be competitive,” said Adolfo Salvatierra Guzman, Chief Information Officer, Carozzi. By improving the delivery of real-time data, Carozzi also aimed to provide management with the ability to monitor the business for overall operational effectiveness. Carozzi committed to upgrading its outdated mobility platform to meet sales needs, which would then improve efficiencies across the organization. Executive overview Company Vision Why SAP Solution Benefits Future plans SAP Customer Success Story | Consumer Goods | Carozzi A proven mobility platform A team comprised of Carozzi executives, IT professionals and end-users spent two months undertaking a complete evaluation of competing mobility management providers, including SAP, Motorola and Tecnocom. Carozzi selected SAP for its proven platform and innovation in mobile technologies. The simple integration between the SAP Managed Mobility Platform and Carozzi’s existing applications, along with the mature, well-developed applications ensured delivery of a cohesive overall solution that would give Carozzi the actionable information they needed to be competitive. Prior to engaging SAP, Carozzi also performed a detailed financial analysis of the new solution through which they found significant reductions in hardware and operating costs compared to their current platform using Windows 6 devices. “Our findings indicated that both hardware and operations would be cheaper with the SAP Managed Mobility Platform. With the previous solution we paid up to $1700 per device, compared to $120 per device on the new SAP platform,” said Salvatierra. The per unit cost savings combined with SAP’s Software-as-a-Service model reduced the upfront investment required for the project and made it easier for Carozzi to engage. Executive overview Company Vision Why SAP Solution Benefits Future plans SAP Customer Success Story | Consumer Goods | Carozzi Real-time, integrated information with SAP Managed Mobility Platform The SAP Managed Mobility Platform (MMP) allows Carozzi to capture real-time data from a variety of existing back-end ERP systems. The solution, based on the Entel FVM application, enables them to make purchase orders, payments, and deliveries and control online stock, providing tighter management and supply chain efficiencies. Carozzi sales teams will have online access to this information to inform stronger business decisions and better meet customer needs. The first phase of the implementation will be a migration of 200 Windows 6 sales team devices to the new SAP Managed Mobility Platform on multi- OS devices, including iOS and Android. Chile’s Entel Communications will support the migration, provide hosting services, and manage all SAP infrastructure. The Carozzi, SAP, and Entel teams are working collaboratively on the implementation, leveraging deep, varied expertise and product knowledge. “Entel has strong business and technical knowledge of our systems. They understand our support and integration needs and our technology roadmap. They are dedicated to the project’s success, have put their strongest resources on the account, and have shown significant executive level support from the beginning,” said Salvatierra. Carozzi expects a seamless one-month implementation, during which Entel will provide ongoing helpdesk and overall support for transitioning users. “With the SAP solution, we have all of the information available to us online and offline, so if we’re selling a product we know the exact status of that product at that very moment while in front of the customer. Executive overview Company Vision Why SAP Solution Benefits Future plans SAP Customer Success Story | Consumer Goods | Carozzi Leveraging Mobile Technologies for Greater Sales and Staff Productivity SAP’s Managed Mobility Platform will enable Carozzi employees to access valuable, synchronized information throughout the supply chain, from product inventory to point of sale. Marketing teams will collect actionable information on customers and store environments in order to better target sales opportunities, and better align products to promotions at point of sale. Sales teams will use online, real-time data to get the product inventory information they need to provide better service to their customers. “Now that sales teams gain a better understanding of their space, they supply the right quantities of the right products, aligned with promotions at the right time to finally achieve higher overall sales,” said Salvatierra. By better managing inventory, Salvatierra anticipates improved performance in sales and distribution which will ultimately drive enhanced customer satisfaction. He added,“We are going to give customers better service than competitors, which will lead to greater market share.” Salvatierra also noted that with the flexibility of the SAP platform to run on any device or operating system, combined with security and deployment managed by Afaria, they could anticipate a $600,000 reduction in hardware costs for 375 sales employees in South America.   • 8. 8 / 8 Executive overview Company Vision Why SAP Solution Benefits Future plans Carozzi Driving growth through increased information Carozzi has a very clear and structured technology roadmap that includes further implementation of the SAP Managed Mobility Platform for sales teams in Peru and Ecuador, as well as additional plans to roll out SAP mobility across the company starting with finance, operations, and distribution. Additionally, Salvatierra and his team would like to securely apply the mobile solution to capture valuable information within Carozzi’s agricultural division which is currently made up of over 70,000 hectares of land across Chile.
