2. What is Quality Assurance?
Quality Assurance (QA), generally referred to as
software testing, is to provide information related
to the product / service quality using techniques
intended to find software failures and software
bugs.
QA checks for ‘Fit for purpose’ and elimination of
errors ‘Right first time’.
3. Tasks of QA Tester:
Manage the quality of raw materials, assemblies, products
and components.
To look into production and management related services.
Manage production and inspection processes.
Review functional and design specifications.
Backend database testing in Microsoft SQL environment.
Identify test requirements from specifications.
Map test case requirements and design test coverage plan.
Develop, document and maintain functional test cases.
Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases.
Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
4. Responsibilities Of QA Analyst
Create an end-to-end test plan.
Execute and manage all activities in the plan.
Ensure that all the objectives are met.
To ensure if the solution is working as expected.
To test the solution in terms
of functionality, performance, reliability, stability.
To test the compatibility with other legacy- and / or
external systems.
Ensure every phase and feature of the software solution is
tested and fixed.
5. Software Testing Types
Acceptance Testing
Regression Testing
Smoke Testing
Stress Testing
Conformance Testing or Type Testing
Black box Testing
White box testing
System Testing
Integration Testing
Functional Testing
Performance Testing
Compatibility testing
6. Acceptance Testing
Acceptance testing is a term used in agile software
development methodologies, particularly Extreme
Programming, referring to the functional testing of a user
story by the software development team during the
implementation phase.
7. Black Box Testing
Black Box Testing examines the functionality of an
application (e.g. what the software does) without peering
into its internal structures or workings.
8. White-box Testing
White-box testing is also known as clear box testing, glass
box testing, transparent box testing, and structural testing.
It tests internal structures or workings of an application, as
opposed to its functionality (i.e. black-box testing).
9. System Testing
System Testing of software or hardware is testing
conducted on a complete, integrated system to evaluate the
system’s compliance with its specified requirements.
10. Functional Testing
Functional Testing is a quality assurance (QA) process and
a type of black box testing that bases its test cases on the
specifications of the software component under test.
11. Performance Testing
Performance testing is in General testing performed to
determine how a system performs in terms of
responsiveness and stability under a particular workload.
It can also serve to investigate, measure, validate or verify
other quality attributes of the system, such
as scalability, reliability and resource usage.
12. Compatibility testing
Compatibility testing, part of software non-functional
tests, is testing conducted on the application to evaluate
the application’s compatibility with the computing
environment.
13. Load testing
Load testing is performed to determine a system’s behavior
under both normal and anticipated peak load conditions.
14. Regression Testing
Regression testing is any type of software testing that seeks
to uncover new software bugs, or regressions, in
existing functional and non-functional areas of a system
after changes such as enhancements
, patches or configuration changes, have been made to
them.
15. Smoke Testing
In computer programming and software testing, smoke
testing is preliminary testing to reveal simple failures
severe enough to reject a prospective software release.
16. System Testing
System testing of software or hardware is testing conducted
on a complete, integrated system to evaluate the system’s
compliance with its specified requirements.
17. Stress testing
Stress testing (sometimes called torture testing) is a form
of deliberately intense or thorough testing used to
determine the stability of a given system or entity.
18. Integration testing
Integration testing (sometimes called integration and
testing, abbreviated I&T) is the phase in software testing in
which individual software modules are combined and
tested as a group.
19. Conformance testing
Conformance testing or type testing is to determine
whether a product or system meets some specified
standard that has been developed for efficiency or
interoperability.
20. QA Career Opportunities
Graduates of a bachelor’s degree program in a technical
field (computer science or information systems
technology) are eligible.
Can work for private software developers, government
agencies or can be self-employed.
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics
(BLS), employment of quality assurance managers will see
steady growth in coming years.
