Introducing Greg Eicke
My name is Greg Eicke and I’ve been working at the leading edge of voice
communications for the past 27 years. In that time I’ve learnt that a correctly
engineered leading manufacturer’s brand telephone system offers the business

business owners better understand the available profit performance a well-engineered

the better part of my career I’ve installed, maintained and sold Telephone Systems.

1. Do you offer any Guarantees?
Telephone system vendors can make all manner of claims… often with little
accountability. The key question for the telephone system buyer is “does this
vendor put their money where their mouth is?”
Greg Eicke from Phone Systems Brisbane can help any business with a

Teleworking has provided companies the world over with big saving on real
estate and accommodation costs. In fact the Sensis Business Index Report
2007 states that "Teleworkers have proven to be between 20% and 43% more
productive".

annually. The key drivers are productivity gains through presence and contact
availability, and calling cost reductions. Mobile devices are becoming more
capable and less expensive, and by 2013 companies will purchase more mobile
devices than fixed desktop devices.”

… The daily commute to work is stressing out Australian workers more than
ever and technology is badly needed to improve things, according to a new
study… technological solutions include introducing greater flexibility to work
from home (35%)…
The IBM study also shows that our reliance on cars for commuting severely
impacts the nation’s health and stress levels. 41% of drivers believe that traffic
has negatively affected their health, and 39% believe it has negatively affected
their performance at work or school/university. Sydney commuters are worst
off, with 50% of drivers in that city experiencing negative health effects, whilst
the least affected are in Adelaide (28%) and Perth (28%). Among those who
believe that traffic has negatively affected their health, increased stress (77%)
and anger (52%) are the primary symptoms…
Surprisingly, Brisbane is the most stressed Australian city, topping the nation
with 90% of its residents facing increased stress due to roadway traffic, followed
by Adelaide (81%), Melbourne (78%), Sydney (74%) and Perth, which has the
least number of stressed commuters (73%)…
Concluding Hawkins said: “We commissioned this study to understand the
realities of daily travel that commuters face and what alternatives - such as
carpooling, public transportation, and working from home – might improve their
commute.

Developing happy customers who repeat purchase and refer others has been
a business success principle we’ve used for decades now. This is not rocket
science, I know, but I am consistently surprised at the number of genuine
business owners who’ve been lead up the garden path by an inexperienced or
unscrupulous telephone system vendor.
Think of it this way… would you trust the recommendation of your GP if they
wrote the script as soon as you sat down before they took time and
consideration to diagnose you ailment? Of course not! Listen, research, then
recommend is the approach I like to use when it comes to our customers
business telephone system.

Mary travels to New Zealand for a holiday break. John is left to complete a very
important submission and present to their largest client in just a few days. John
must discuss the submission with Mary in detail prior to presentation. John &
Mary become very frustrated with emails and telephone tag…
What happens Next?
Mary arrives in Auckland and is inundated with emails and voice mail messages
on her mobile. John has also wasted some of his time. However if Mary was
using a Unified Communications system, results could have been different.
The Answer
Unified Communications (UC) features allow Mary to turn any telephone into

8. Do I REALLY need all of these telephone lines on my account?
You may never need to pay line rental again!
I’ve found that many Australian businesses are still paying “line rental” charges
on their phone bill even though they qualify for a service that has no line rental
charges. You see most businesses which are located within CBD, metro or
major regional locations actually qualify for phone lines with free line rental.
What’s the catch? There is a catch, in fact a couple of them. To qualify for free
line rental:
• Your business must be located within a metropolitan area.
• You must have a genuine business with an ABN (we do not provide
services to residential customers).
9. Why doesn’t my Telco show me how to slash my costs like IP Gen can?

This removes the benefit of ‘independent’ advice that is best for your business
Once again you get the great spiel…
“Everything is on easy to read Bill… You will save up to 16%... We’ll support you
– just call 1800 ??? ???... One Easy monthly payment.”
But here are the FACTS. The Telco Account Manager;
 Often decides which “Mate” he’ll get to sell you the telephone system
purely based upon the “Mates” closing ratio (ie; the likelihood of the Telco
Account exec getting their free commission).
 Is heavily influenced Not to discuss your Best available options allowing
you to make an informed decision.
 Receives high commissions on long term contracts Bundled with
Telephone Equipment Hardware. Questionable integrity.
 Support = Call a Help Desk, wait in the queue, speak with a low qualified
call centre operator, get passed around from operator to operator (sound
familiar?) And all you want is to speak with the people who installed the
system, but you have to go through this other process first. Sounds Hard –
Because it is hard.

10.Please explain VoIP to me in layman’s language
VoIP - What is it?
VoIP means Voice over Internet Protocol, not Voice over the Internet.
Still confused about what VoIP is?
VoIP is termed very loosely today. VoIP is often confused with “Low Cost Calls”
and “Telephone Systems”. Let me explain, VoIP best describes “Voice over a
data network” whereas IP Telephony or Unified communications refers to the
Software Applications and Hardware of an IP phone system.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) converts voice calls to packets that travel
over data networks. In this way, a single, robust network can carry all of an
organization’s data and voice traffic in a converged system.
VoIP involves trade-offs surrounding factors such as cost, flexibility, reliability,
and user expectations, but evidence continues to mount that improvements in
technology are tilting such evaluations in favour of VoIP.at is IP Telephony?
IP (Internet protocol) telephony is a Telephone System hardware and software
that supports telephone calls on your computer network. In the office you will
see that your telephone can now plug into the same cable as your computer
bringing both devices and their full potential closer together.

Do you offer any Guarantees? Telephone system vendors can make all manner of claims… often with little accountability. In fact the Sensis Business Index Report 2007 states that "Teleworkers have proven to be between 20% and 43% more productive". “Mobile Unified Communications demand is growing at a rapid pace, by 30% annually. The key drivers are productivity gains through presence and contact availability, and calling cost reductions. Mobile devices are becoming more capable and less expensive, and by 2013 companies will purchase more mobile devices than fixed desktop devices.” — Forrester Group … The daily commute to work is stressing out Australian workers more than ever and technology is badly needed to improve things, according to a new study… technological solutions include introducing greater flexibility to work from home (35%)… The IBM study also shows that our reliance on cars for commuting severely impacts the nation’s health and stress levels. 41% of drivers believe that traffic has negatively affected their health, and 39% believe it has negatively affected their performance at work or school/university. Sydney commuters are worst off, with 50% of drivers in that city experiencing negative health effects, whilst the least affected are in Adelaide (28%) and Perth (28%). This is not rocket science, I know, but I am consistently surprised at the number of genuine business owners who’ve been lead up the garden path by an inexperienced or unscrupulous telephone system vendor. Think of it this way… would you trust the recommendation of your GP if they wrote the script as soon as you sat down before they took time and consideration to diagnose you ailment? Of course not! Listen, research, then recommend is the approach I like to use when it comes to our customers business telephone system. To qualify for free line rental: • Your business must be located within a metropolitan area. • You must have a genuine business with an ABN (we do not provide services to residential customers). 9. The Telco Account Manager;  Often decides which “Mate” he’ll get to sell you the telephone system purely based upon the “Mates” closing ratio (ie; the likelihood of the Telco Account exec getting their free commission).  Is heavily influenced Not to discuss your Best available options allowing you to make an informed decision.  Receives high commissions on long term contracts Bundled with Telephone Equipment Hardware.
