Local Full Fibre Networks Programme Objectives: • Stimulate commercial investment to deliver more gigabit capable connectivity • Maximise the availability and benefits to residential, business and public sector users • Improve business case for market provision of gigabit broadband services £200m of NPIF funding announced at 2017 Spring Budget: • Local bodies bidding into a Challenge Fund launching Autumn 2017 to support projects • Harnessing public sector demand and stimulating private demand for full fibre services • Creating the right environment for commercial investment • First wave of projects to develop four different delivery mechanisms

- 6. LFFN – Reuse of Public Sector Assets Wave 1 location: Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council
- 7. 5G Testbeds & Trials Programme Objectives: • Help establish conditions for timely deployment of 5G and UK leadership in 5G • Foster development of 5G ecosystem and efficiency / productivity benefits for UK businesses • Creating new opportunities for UK businesses at home and abroad, and encouraging inward investment Also funded from within £740m NPIF funding for Digital Infrastructure: • Initial investment of £16m in 3 University Test Networks • 5G Innovation Network – industry-led coordination of activities across the 5G arena • Phase 1 - Initial competition of £25m for development of 5G use cases and business model • Likely to be future opportunities for larger, multi-year projects in strategic priority areas
