UK Broadband
Fast ~ Secure ~ Wireless
November, 2014
UK Broadband is the UK’s largest holder of national
radio spectrum suitable for 4G mobile services and
fixed wireless solutions including 124MHz of
spectrum in LTE bands 42 & 43.
UKB is owned by PCCW and backed by HKT, Hong
Kong’s largest fixed broadband and mobile service
provider.
UKB is investing in high speed, high capacity,
wireless broadband network solutions for key
sectors of the UK market.

UKB’s strategy is to deliver differentiated, high value,
mobile and fixed wireless telecoms services in distinct
market segments through a disciplined and demand-led
business model
• Public Sector and Smart Cities
• Wholesale and managed networks
• Retail broadband to consumers and SMEs
What Do We Do?
Safety of Life
Mission Critical
Business Critical
Consumer & SME
Consumer & SME Division –
Retail broadband to consumers and
SMEs
• Broadband internet services provided over
a new LTE network which utilises UKB’s
3.4 GHz and 3.6 GHz spectrum.
• 30 Mbps speeds Range from 5 Mbps – 50
Mbps, depending on customer location;
higher speeds to come with technology
upgrades – Softbank trials in Japan have
demonstrated 1Gbps in same frequency.
• Appealing particularly to consumers in
poorly served areas and those seeking a
flexible service offering.
• No need for a landline.
• No long contracts - starting from 30 days.
• Fast installation – “plug and play” with an
indoor wireless hub.
• £20 inc. VAT per month for consumers.
• £25 + VAT per month for businesses.
Consumer & SME Division –
Dedicated Business Ethernet
• Dedicated point to point services for
businesses with larger data requirements,
provided over UKB’s microwave spectrum
(“Dedicated Business Internet”).
• Speeds of 10 Mbps/ 100 Mbps/ 1 Gbps
• 99.99% reliability

to cover 45% of UK population.
Consumer & SME Division –
Initial launch of Relish in London in June
2014.
Phase 2 roll-out to a further 9 cities, aiming
to cover 45% of UK population.
UKB has invested £60M in Phase 1. A
further £500M has been allocated to Phase 2
network roll-out.
A technical trial for NGA (30 Mbps) service to
a rural community is commencing in
November 2014 with outdoor wall-mounted
units.
Wholesale and Managed Network Business Division
Wholesale Data Capacity
Providing data capacity to other market
operators (e.g. MNOs and fixed line operators)
Managed Networks
Building and operating wireless networks that
target the needs of UK businesses and
“campuses” with high QoS and mission-critical
data requirements
Customers include Heathrow Airport &
Felixstowe Docks
Public Sector Business Division
Local Government - Councils such as
Reading, Swindon and Southwark
Central Government - UKB is participating in
the procurement of the LTE successor to the
current (TETRA) Emergency Services Network.
Smart Cities – deploying innovative eLTE
technology to provide public safety, smart grid
and smart city applications which are
specifically designed to meet the needs of
government, business and enterprise over an
LTE network.
