2. shift your perspective
A series of illuminated boxes, carefully
stacked. Spaces shifted gently left and
right, geometry that draws the eye
skyward. A building that’s poised to be
iconic, the shape of things to come.
That’s Totem.
It’s city living that’s a shift from what’s
come before. A place designed to meet the
needs of urbanites looking for their own
little slice of downtown. It’s not about
fitting your life to a cookie cutter shape,
Totem is about living your life in the perfect
location that’s designed to fit you to a T.
3. MID-CENTURY MODERN,
MEET THE NEW MILLENNIUM.
The building design incorporates the existing
structure at 17 Dundonald. Built in 1956, the
Commercial Travellers’ Association of Canada
Building is a culturally significant example of
small-scale Modern architecture, and is included
on the city’s inventory of heritage properties.
Designed by Toronto architectural firm Weir
Cripps and Associates, the low, sleek building
features a distinctive grid of solids and voids
with turquoise-hued glazed brick, travertine,
aluminum and concrete cladding, highly
representative of the Modern style popular in
post-war Toronto. This original structure makes
up the base of Totem, adding context, history
and texture to the building’s thoughtful design.
your own private subway entrance
It’s the ultimate urban location. Right beside a subway station – with a private entrance that
means you don’t even have to go outside to get around town. Step right from the Totem lobby
into Wellesley station, through an exclusive entrance with secure fob access. Who needs a car
when taking the TTC is so easy?
Imagine it. A quick underground trip to shop the Eaton Centre, no coat required. Getting to
work in a flash, without an exhausting commute. Accessing great cultural attractions –
museums, theatre, music and more – without ever having to worry about where to park your car.
When you live here, you can go anywhere.
4. Inspired
Architecture
Totem is unlike anything Toronto has ever seen.
Dynamic, irreverent and bold, it reaches for the sky
in a series of stacked boxes – contemporary cubist
architecture executed to perfection. This isn’t just
another generic glass tower, it’s a rich, thoughtful
addition to the architectural texture of the city.
5. ICONIC
Totem’s architecture is a nod to Manhattan’s award-winning New Museum, a
showcase for contemporary art, and an icon of urban modernism. Totem combines
elegance and urbanism, movement and modern lines, creating a dynamic
structure that brings a fresh presence to a quaint downtown street, lined
with Victorian homes, Dundonald.
THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN TORONTO !
Using a secured fob entry, the residents have direct access to the Wellesley Subway station from the lobby at Totem.
6. THE CUBE
Jutting boldly over the street, this dark,
dramatic shape draws the eye and engages the
senses. Bold stone cladding that provides a rich
textural counterpoint to the sleek glass and
steel of the rest of the building.
7. a new angle
Bold blue “fins” add interest and dimension to the
south elevation of the building, reflecting light in
unique ways, creating angled sightlines from the
inside and exciting visuals from the street.

a perfect walk score of 100.
Totem is close to everything. You’re steps from Wellesley station (there’s actually a
private secured entrance into the subway for Totem residents only), and a short walk
to whatever you need – from the friendly restaurants and businesses in the Village to
the sleek shops on Yorkville’s Mink Mile, from Ryerson and U of T campuses to the
government offices and hospitals at Queen’s Park.
you’ve got the city at your feet.
13. College Park
Chic and sophisticated,
Bloor/Yorkville is known for its
well-heeled residents, but it has
shopping and dining options to suit
every budget. If money is no
object, it’s a great place to get a
dose of haute couture at Chanel or
Hermès, shop for high-end eats at
Pusateri’s or get your hair done at
one of Toronto’s top salons. If
you’re on a bit of a budget, there’s
always Winners and Pottery Barn
to make it look like you’ve spent
lots, without breaking the bank.
This quiet mall and high-rise
residence was home to Eaton’s
elegant art deco flagship store.
The original showpiece has been
broken up to house smaller shops
and services, but the beautiful
deco details remain. From the
lovely brass revolving doors to the
marble finishes throughout, it’s a
gracious space steeped in history.
And upstairs you’ll find one of
Toronto’s most celebrated event
spaces, the Carlu. Recently
restored to its original Art
Moderne splendour, the venue
features a hand-painted mural by
Natacha Carlu and a stunning
Lalique fountain.

Hospital Row
At the northernmost part of
University Avenue where it meets
College is an area Torontonians like
to call “Hospital Row” for its high
concentration of medical facilities.
The enclave includes Toronto

and Sick Kids. It’s also home to
Canada’s largest research hub and
one of the ten largest biomedical
clusters in the world. For doctors,
health care workers, researchers,
technicians and biomedical
entrepreneurs, Totem offers
incredible proximity to the best
facilities Canada has to offer.
