3. What is 3D Printer ?
“3D printing or additive
manufacturing is a process of making
three dimensional solid objects from a
digital file. The creation of a 3D
printed object is achieved using
additive processes. In an additive
process an object is created by laying
down successive layers of material
until the entire object is created. “
4. History of 3D Printing
The earliest 3D printing technologies first
became visible in the late 1980’s, at which
time they were called Rapid Prototyping (RP)
technologies. This is because the processes
were originally conceived as a fast and more
cost-effective method for creating prototypes
for product development within industry. As
an interesting aside, the very first patent
application for RP technology was filed by a
Dr Kodama, in Japan, in May 1980

6. Types Of 3D printer
Stereo lithography (SLA)
Digital Light Processing(DLP)
Fused deposition modelling (FDM)
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
Electronic Beam Melting (EBM)
10. Advantages
Cost Effective
Boeing has been using 3-D printing for a decade to make parts
such as electronics covers and air ducts that cool computer or
electrical equipment, says Michael Hayes, a Boeing design
engineer.
Printers can make ducts of varying shapes that fit through tight
spaces or bend around structures, saving material costs.
A duct can also be made without the need to first produce
expensive tools. And it can be built as a single piece, rather than
in multiple sections, eliminating assembly lines and cutting
labour costs.
By using only necessary material and doing away with bolts and
screws that meld parts together, 3-D has reduced the weight of
certain parts an average 10% to 30%, saving fuel costs. All told,
3-D-made parts have yielded 25% to 50% in savings
11. TIME EFFICIENT
The use of such techniques will contribute to significant
reductions in product- development cycle times over the next
decade .
It can be used in manufacturing different PCB very quickly. Now
assume u has big factories and per day your production is
15,000 pieces with the help of big machines and 100 people for
running that machines doesn’t it sound wired? So the better
option is 3D Printer it is a one time small investment and then it
doesn’t require any more attention and overall man required is
also less, and productions will be more and fully automatic and
speedy. Not only are production speeds higher, 3D printing with
multiple printers also allows for a far greater level of
customization and modification.
12. NEW MANUFACTURING STRATEGIES
Different types of aircraft, and medical
products companies are using them to
create offerings such as hip replacements
, ears replacement , finger replacement
and more advance Skin replacement.
