1. I4MS 2016: FOSTERING DIGITAL INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION IN EUROPE · 23rd and 24th of June – Amsterdam
A Reconfigurable robot
workCell for fast set-up of
automated assembly
processes in SMEs
2. ReconCell Objectives
• New kind of an autonomous
robot workcell.
– Attractive not only for large
production lines but also for
few-of-a-kind production, which
often takes place in SMEs.
• Reduce setup times by exploiting
new technologies which were
partially developed in previous
projects (IntellAct, Xperience).
• Relatively low cost.
• The proposed cell can be nearly
automatically reconfigured to
execute new assembly tasks.
3. Implementation & Experiments
• Practical implementation of the workcell
– Key partners: JSI, MMI, SDU, UGOE, HERMIA
– Key technologies: programming by demonstration, reconfiguration, force
control, simulation, 3D vision + monitoring, business intelligence
• Three use cases as examples of typical assembly problems in SMEs
(included in the project to guide the design process)
– Assembly of an automotive light (ELVEZ)
– Assembly of a gripper for a wall-mounting robot (Precizika Metal)
– Final assembly & customization of drive
systems and control boxes (Logicdata)
• Open call for additional experiments
– Main criteria: innovation novelty
(assembly process currently done
manually), potential industrial impact
• Preparation for exploitation
– Key partner: Blue Ocean Robotics
4. Measurable reduction of set-up times
