Example Configuration with the Igneous Hybrid Storage Cloud
In this example we configure a User Package to use the Igneous Hybrid Storage Cloud as the
primary storage endpoint, login in as a user and setup the container for the user data.
1. Setup the User Package on the administrative server

C) Install Client Software - mac
Download and install the SME client software for Mac, upon initial configuration will be a dialog
that appears to log into the SME appliance.

5. After login, a dialogue will appear saying “No provider has been setup.” At this point click the open
website button to configure Igneous as the default storage provider.

6. Here we are going to configure the provider name (endpoint) and access
• Name your Cloud: Igneous Hybrid Storage Cloud
• Endpoint: http://<name of igneous system>
• Open S3 Access Key: < Igneous Access Key>
• Open S3 Secret Key: <Igneous Secret Key>
At this point, a list of bucket will be displayed on the system for which the key has permissions

In this case we select a container for “Steve Green” that is titled smestoragestevegreen

At this point the cloud storage (Igneous) is configured to work with Steve Green’s environment. While in
the browser still, the file manager will allow access to the Igneous Hybrid Storage Cloud.

Back to the client on the mac, we can setup access to the Igneous Hybrid Storage Cloud by setting up the

To apply the changes, navigate back to the systems preferences page and now a Storage Made Easy Drive
is displayed in the Finder window.

Opening the drive, the files uploaded through the browser are now present.

Where files can be uploaded, downloaded and deleted as if they were a lcoal drive on the system.
Install client software - Windows
Download and install the SME for Windows, where upon installation a pop-up dialog will prompt you to
log into the SME appliance.

After logging into the service, a prompt will appear on asking to setup a cloud for data access.

Enter:
• Open S3 endpoint: <the Igneous data service endpoint>
• Open S3 Access Key Id: <The Igneous access key>
• Open S3 Secret Key: <The Igneous secret key>
After entering the details for access, a dialog will appear to specify a bucket/container to use as the main
data repository for this account (note: multiple containers can be selected)
