Opening Note
Dear All,

When I was offered the opportunity to run a social project in
Bahrain back in 2011 I could not conceive in my mind the fruitful
results such endeavor would render for all the stakeholders to
the project including myself.

In this opening note I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all
those individuals and entities whose contribution made it
possible for the organizing committee to run the project
successfully; starting by the Bahraini schools that decided to
participate with their students in the project, Ibn Khuldoon
National School, Ibn Al Haytham Islamic School, Nassem
International School, Riffa Views International School, Pakistani
School, Indian School, , Al Falah School, Saint Christopher School,
The Budaiya Pre-School, Hawar International School, The Bahrain
Bayan School and Sacred Heart School; To each of them we
greatly owe the results of the project.

Also it is important to highlight the contribution during the
filming and video production of the project of the Gulf Hotel, the
Information Affairs Authority – Press & Foreign Media Affairs,
the Undersecretary for Tourism of the Ministry of Culture, and
Bahrain International Airport, entities that enable the team to
obtain all the required permissions for filming in the selected
places; likewise I would like to thank professor Zeeshan Shah
from New York Institute of Technology Bahrain for his invaluable
help in the process of editing and adding of effects into the
video, as well as Abdullah Esam Hadi for his input as an excellent
camera man.
I would also like to thank Chevron Bahrain for serving the project
with the financial support and sponsorship used to conduct the
project derived activities, support that enabled the team to
transform ideas into realities; for the map construction we thank
the in kind cooperation offered by Carrefour and Luly
hypermarkets, and the Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Park
management and authorities for allowing us to build our map in
their magnificent location.

To the press especially Bahrain Daily Tribune, Gulf Daily News
and Coeds Magazine we are grateful for their continuous
coverage of the project activities and accomplishments. Their
voice was a great award to our constant efforts.

Finally I would like to thank AIESEC Bahrain, specially the local
chapter in Manama for putting in my hands the conduction of a
project of their own, I hope all the effort me and my team did
can repay all the trust deposited in our work. Also each and
every member of the Organizing Committee and the group of
international interns, they all know it was because of their work
that the ideas conceived in our minds could be realized

To all of you my dear Bahraini friends I express my deep
gratitude and appreciation,

AIESEC

AIESEC is a global, non-political, independent, not-for-profit
organization run by students and recent graduates of institutions
of higher education. Founded in 1948, AIESEC has built up a
unique global network in over 111 countries and territories and
is now the world’s largest student run organization. AIESEC is an
international platform for young people to explore and develop
their leadership potential for them to have a positive impact in
society.

AIESEC develops students into leaders through running an
international work exchange program. AIESECs aim is to
empower young
people to develop
their leadership and
professional skills to
ultimately change
the world for the
better. AIESEC
provides its
members with an
integrated
development experience during and after university comprised
of leadership opportunities, international internships and
participation in a global learning environment.

AIESEC members are managing a global organization that
engages over 4,000 partners every year. The majority of our
partner organizations engage with AIESEC in order to increase
their profile, attract top talent to their organization, and to
support our efforts in enabling young people to develop their
potential. Some of these partners are Microsoft, DHL, Nike,
Unilever, PWC, and Ericsson; locally, the AIESEC Bahrain national
team consists of 4 full-time members responsible for
coordinating activities such as: External Events and Seminars,
                            Government and Board of Directors
                            relations, Talent Sourcing and
                            Strategic Management and program
                            execution.

AIESEC MANAMA is a Local Chapter
based out of a group of nearby
                           universities. It started operating in
2006, and has over 100 members.
The local chapter has achieved over
                           100 exchanges.

Its members work voluntarily, and they are responsible for the
functional operations of AIESEC: The leadership and internship
programs, as well as projects based on student mobility. AIESEC
Local Committee Manama offer around 45 internships and 20
leadership experiences per year.
Chevron Bahrain

Chevron is one of the world's leading integrated energy
companies, with subsidiaries that conduct business worldwide.
The company's success is driven by the ingenuity and
commitment of its employees and their application of the most
innovative technologies in the world. Chevron is involved in
virtually every facet of the energy industry. The company
explores for, produces and transports crude oil and natural gas;
refines, markets and distributes transportation fuels and other
energy products; manufactures and sells petrochemical
products; generates power and produces geothermal energy;
provides energy efficiency solutions; and develops the energy
resources of the future, including biofuels.

In its effort to impact the society it operates in, Chevron Bahrain
has taken upon itself many initiatives to support the local
community. For that, Chevron Bahrain has supported one of
AIESECs initiatives which is “The Colors of Bahrain Project”.
Chevron has supported this project through its financial
sponsorship.
Colors of Bahrain Project
When the concept of the project was being designed back in
November 2011 we could realize for a fact that After typing
Bahrain on Youtube search bar out of the first 80 videos only 5
had no political related content being 1 from advertising and the
remaining 4 to sports. This is how we saw that culture was
claiming its space given its non existence in such an important
tool as it is the video sharing websites.

The Colors of Bahrain project therefore created a short film that
                                            showcased a journey
                                            of a man as he
                                            discovers Bahrain. It
                                            was conceived under
                                            a "story based"
                                            concept, targeting to
                                            show important
                                            cultural aspects The
                                            Kingdom of Bahrain
                                            has as a country to
                                            reflect to the
                                            international internet
audience. It is a video that is now on the social media and in the
most widely spread video sharing website with the number of
views counting.

We also had another challenge
which was the involvement of
the young generations into the
recognition of the Bahraini
traditional culture; in order to
give answer to this question the
project also developed with the
contribution of paintings from
12 different Bahraini schools and over 2300 students the largest
scale-map of the country ever made by assembling together
individual drawings of school students displaying their ideas
about Bahrain and the Arab culture.

                                   The actual map which
                                   included 1741 selected
                                   paintings out of the total
                                   collected amount has a claim
                                   now under Guinness World
                                   Records Ltd for being the
largest scale map of a country
                                   ever made as proportion to
                                   the country size.

This is how the AIESEC´s project labeled as the Colors of Bahrain
derives as its primary outcome the engagement of the young
generations of the nation into the reflection of the Bahraini
culture at an international level.
