◦ An internet search engine is a special site on the
web that is designed to help people find
information stored on other websites
(Franklin,2012).

◦ Searches the internet or pieces of the internet
based off of important words.

◦ Allows users to look for words or combinations of
words found in the index (Franklin, 2012).

Some examples of printable materials would be
for math a practice sheet with problems.
In a geography class a world map where students
have to label the continents of the world.
In a history class a timeline or list for a specific
event or series of events that has occurred
through out history.

This website provides many great free math
printouts with answer sheets for all grade
levels including 9-12 graders.

for teachers to use within their classrooms.
One example is the Maps to Print website
which allows teachers to print for free maps
of the World, different continents, or the U.S.
and it’s states even down to the breakdown
of the counties within a state.

timelines in history, in this case World
History, are very useful for 9-12 grade
learning. This website has links to different
events in history with lesson plans, power
points, and printouts for each.

training session on free printables as well as
a few other informational sites with a short
overview of what is provided and can be

performing an internet search, in this case for
free educational printables, this can insure a
wide selection of search results for your
topic.
Understanding how search engines work and
how they bring back information can help
with the selection of words used to search for
your topic of interest.

insure that only specific phrases or topics are

broad and is a good example of a useful site
to obtain free printables for all subjects. This
as well as the other sites provided in this
training along with the reference handout are
good resources for just some of the subject
areas teachers in 9-12 grades can use to
effectively teach within their specific subject
area.
17. In conclusion, teachers can really add value
and meaning to their lesson plans while still
addressing the main topics of their lesson.
When teachers practice the right searching
techniques, when searching for free
educational printables on the internet, they
can promote productive educational learning
as well as practice the most effective internet
searching techniques when searching for a
topic of interest.
