3. Introduction-History
Timeline of how mobile payments have advanced into the 21st century:
● 1983: David Chaum, an American cryptographer, starts work on creating digital
cash
● 1994: Although this is disputed, some believe that the first online purchase, a
pepperoni and mushroom pizza from Pizza Hut, occurs in this year.
● 1998: PayPal is founded.
● 1999: mobile phones could be used to purchase movie tickets.
● 2003: 95 million cell phone users worldwide made a purchase via their mobile
device.
● 2007: Both the iPhone and the Android operating system are released.
● 2011: Google Wallet is released.
● 2014: Apple Pay is launched, followed a year later by Android and Samsung
Pay.
● 2020: 90 percent of smartphone users will have made a mobile payment. It’s
estimated that by 2017, there will be $60 billion in mobile payment sales.

and conditions:
It can often too difficult to
read terms and conditions. It
may also possible to make
payments without reading
invoices.
Phone is prone to be
theft:
Mobile devices are prone to theft
which may subject to lose their
card and personal account
information. Since all your credit
card info is stored in one central
location, there is a small chance
that hackers may steal your
information.

Most of the respondents have
used PayPal, AliPay and Wechat
before.
We can see PayPal has been
widely used because of its
convenience. We can pay bills,
transfer money directly from our
deposit bank account as well as
online shopping.

mobile payment because of its
convenience. Some of them use
mobile payment for some
discounts or unsufficient cash in
hand.
We can see how mobile payment
change our life: We can do
transaction even though we do not
have cash in hand via our phone.

Most of the respondents only use
mobile payment 1-3 times a
month, parts of them use it 4-6
times a month.
We can see people do not rely on
mobile payment and they just use
a few times a month. Mobile
payment is not the mainstream

18. Conclusion and Suggestions
People are more familiar with mobile payment.
They use it more mostly because it is convenient.
However, while we using mobile payment conveniently,
we should be aware the security problem.
Improvement:
A formal security policy should implemented by the
government to all mobile payment services.
