SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” In simple terms,
SEO means the process of improving your website to
increase its visibility in Google, Microsoft Bing, and other
search engines whenever people search for: Products you
sell.

Black Hat techniques
Black hat SEO is a practice against search engine
guidelines, used to get a site ranking higher in search
results. These unethical tactics don't solve for the
searcher and often end in a penalty from search engines.

and using private link networks.
Grey Hat Techniques
• Gray hat SEO is the combination of SEO methods that
go along with Google Webmaster Guidelines (white
hat SEO) and those that violate them (black hat
methods). For example, creating quality content
(white hat) and buying backlinks to it (black hat).

over again in your website's content. It is usually easy to notice and will put
readers .

web page's meta tags, visible content, or backlink anchor text in an attempt

Keywords spamming
Keyword spamming, which is sometimes referred to as keyword stuffing, is the method of
overloading a piece of content with keywords and phrases in an attempt to get the content to
rank higher on search engine results pages.
What is keyword spamming example?
A short example might read, “If you're looking for an affordable roof repair, check out our
affordable roof repair services. Our roof repair experts are trained to provide quality roof
repairs.” Keywords and phrases can also be added to a piece of content inappropriately.
Keywords cannibalism
• Keyword cannibalization occurs when you have too many identical or similar
keywords spread throughout the content on your website. As a result, a
search engine like Google can't discern which content to rank higher. This
means that sometimes it will give a higher ranking to the web page you don't
mean to prioritize.

• The keyword proximity refers to the distance between
the search term's individual keywords.

Keywords prominence
• Keyword prominence is an SEO best practice that involves using a
page's target keyword early in order to send a strong signal
to Google about what the page should rank for.
• Keyword prominence refers to how prominent your keywords are
within key elements of your web page. Specifically, how close to
the beginning of the page’s TITLE tag, heading tags (H1, H2, H3,
etc.), and meta DESCRIPTION, your keyword phrase is placed. You
should always put your most important keyword phrase at the very
beginning of your TITLE, DESCRIPTION, and H1 and H2 tags. Also
try to begin your first and last sentences of body copy with the
important keyword phrases.
Plagiarism

and passing them off as one's own.

another source as your own, with or without

• Header tags, also known as heading tags,
are used to separate headings and subheadings
on a webpage. They rank in order of
importance, from H1 to H6, with H1s usually
being the title. Header tags improve the
readability and SEO of a webpage.

Internal Linking or External Linking
Internal Linking
• An internal link is any link from one page on
your website to another page on your website
• . Both your users and search engines use links
to find content on your website.
• Your users use links to navigate through your
site and to find the content they want to find.
External Linking
• In SEO terms, the term 'external link' usually
refers to links that are built on other sites and
point back to your domain.
• These 'external links' or backlinks are
measured for volume, quality, and relevancy in
consideration of how they support the ranking
of your page.
Anchor text

• The simplest way to optimize anchor text for SEO is simply to make sure the
anchor text uses descriptive keywords to accurately describe the page or
idea you're linking to. But be careful! In SEO, it's easy to "over-optimize" your
anchor text by over-relying on repetitive, keyword-rich phrases.

sitemap tells Google which pages and files you think are important in your
site, and also provides valuable information about these files. For example,
when the page was last updated and any alternate language versions of the
page.

appearance or function of an image on a page.
Alt text is read aloud by screen readers used by
visually impaired users, displays in place of an
image if it fails to load and is indexed by search

Compression in SEO
• Compression reduces the size of a file by up to 90% so that pages
load faster and require less data usage. This, in turn, equates to a
better user experience and higher search engine rankings.

Page Loading Time
• page load time is the average amount of time it takes for a page to
show up on your screen. It's calculated from initiation (when you
click on a page link or type in a Web address) to completion (when
the page is fully loaded in the browser).

Canonical tag
• A canonical tag (aka "rel canonical") is a way of telling search engines that a
specific URL represents the master copy of a page. Using the canonical
tag prevents problems caused by identical or "duplicate" content appearing
on multiple URLs.
• A canonical tag is a signal in a web page which simply says: “I'm a copy of this
other web page which can be found over there…”
Redirection
• A redirect happens when someone
asks for a specific page but gets
sent to a different page. Often, the
site owner deleted the page and set
up a redirect to send visitors and
search engine crawlers to a relevant
page.
• There are two types of rediraction:
• 301
• 302
Rediraction 301
• 301 signals a permanent redirect from one URL to another, meaning
all users that request an old URL will be automatically sent to a new
URL. A 301 redirect passes all ranking power from the old URL to the
new URL and is most commonly used when a page has been
permanently moved or removed from a website.
• 302: A 302 redirect is a temporary redirect. The purpose of a
302 redirect is to propagate changes to a forwarding address
quickly, so traffic is moved to your new location rapidly. If
you're not sure what kind of redirect to use, we suggest using
a 302 redirect.

• 404 redirects are server response codes informing a user that the web
page he or she is looking for cannot be found; either due to user error
when typing the URL or the web page he or she is looking for is not an
actual web page.
