How often do you get stuck, dwell on an issue, and resist a new opportunity? Here are five suggestions to be more resilient by taking a holistic view, setting goals, and connecting with others to find creative approaches to stressful situations.
3. Being Resilient Allows Us To…
• Be flexible and agile
• Take a holistic view to find creative
solutions in stressful situations
• Move through obstacles with ease
• Maintain our energy level
• Consciously choose how we show up
10. Set Realistic Goals
• Visualize the achievement of your goal. By creating a compelling
goal that you can see will energize and motivate you to take action.
• Develop specific, measurable goals that have meaning for yourself
and others.
• Create a plan, then, break up actions into smaller tasks. When
actions are too large or vague, there is a tendency to put them off
until later.
12. Be Willing to Learn
• Look at the situation with fresh eyes. Even if you know the
business, keep your biases in check.
• Watch that your language and actions can create a learning
environment.
• Gather as much information as you can from different perspectives.
14. Practice Intentional Leadership
• Take a holistic view of the situation. It’s easy to get enamored with
one perspective. See all sides of the issue.
• Know when to move fast and when to slow down and take the
pause to make conscious well-thought-out decisions.
• Act versus react. Lead with meaning and purpose with the purpose
to help others perform at their best.
16. Create Trusting Relationships
• People are a key asset in making things happen. Accelerate
relationship development by focusing on others vs. your agenda.
• Be open to discussions. Seek to understand and build rapport with
a wide range of constituents.
• Prepare for conversations. Anticipate reactions so you can resolve
differences and find common ground.
18. Create a Sense of Balance
• It’s not enough to be intellectually smart, be emotionally intelligent
to manage the emotional, mental, and physical aspects of
challenges.
• Develop daily healthy habits to stay at peak performance.
• Take time to reflect, think, and put your experiences in perspective.
