2. A shared observation about Education
2
Education must not be kept away from the global
digital context and has to prepare to the « living
together » (European dimension)
Education must tap into the potential of digital
contents to develop more personalized and
collaborative contents to better pass on
knowledge and know-how and foster creativity
Education needs digital resources fit to the needs
of teachers and students (which means contents
AND related services) in an environment
respectful of privacy issues (personal data)

6. What’s next ?
6
1 – Strengthen our partnership with public
institutions to provide these contents to every school
and enabling teachers and students to share their work
2 – Launch a call for proposals about innovative
services linked to these contents
3 – Develop the necessary conditions for a true
« educational exception » that allows use & re-use of
digital resources by public institutions in order to
promote new digital learning by students and foster
their skills for the 21st century
4 – Support and communicate by organizing training,
competitions and/or events promoting the educational
use of digital contents created by cultural institutions.
In a society where digital upsets methods of access to knowledge, the methods of working and social relations, public policies must contribute to the develpment and whispread use of digital cultural contents. The School must support all students in their digital learning by mobilizing all involved in educational community at the forefront of which are the teachers. In response to this, the Ministry of National Education pursues an active policy of support for the development and the dissemination of educational digital resources. And Eduthèque is a part of this policy. It’s a portal for all teachers of primary and secondary schools and their students (85000 teachers and 12 M students) enabling them to have free digital resources from major scientific and cultural public institutions that they can use and re-use for educational purposes – even if we need to work in restricted access.
In 2013, we built the service on a shared vision of the use and reuse of high quality and selected contents for pedagogical purposes based on our curricula. We agreed on common terms of using digital resources for school, accepting a restricted access based on professionnal suscribing. We also defined a general agreement to work for three years with all the partners who wanted to, and a annual work program with each of them in relation with a grant.
We began 15, we grew step by step to 24 to reach 30 partners at the end of this year. But we spend only 1 or 1.2 million euros per year to do this. So, the partners contribute to the effort for education.
Selected digital resources to teach and learn according to the curricula,
Disciplinary and thematic fields and soon a federated serach engine based on common metadatas (ScoLOMFR) : Arts and Literature Culture and Languages, Human and Social Sciences, Science and Technology
Images, short videos, sound or text files, interactives maps, interactive animations, etc.
An educational support to inspire teachers and students how to use and re-use the contents and their services, to build and share their own projects in schools’ digital working spaces or on the national level, but also a training course on our Magistère plateform
