3M™ Electrical Tapes 3M has been developing and manufacturing high performance, easy handling
electrical tapes since the 1940s. The 3M Electrical Tapes range includes insulating and sealing tapes for
protective jacketing, moisture sealing, electrical insulation, harnessing and color coding.
3M PVC Electrical Tapes provide mechanical protection and low voltage electrical insulation across a
range of environmental conditions. Scotch™ Super 33+ Vinyl Electrical Tape is designed to perform in indoor
and outdoor environments, providing electrical insulation up to 600V and conforming to irregular surfaces to
provide moisture-tight protection.
The 3M Splicing & Insulating Tapes range includes conformable rubber insulating tapes Scotch™
Rubber Splicing Tapes 130C (linerless) and 23 (linered) that help provide electrical insulation up to 69kV, void
free buildup and an immediate moisture seal.
3M Sealing & Insulating Tapes include Scotch™ Rubber Mastic Tape Compound 2229, a
conformable, self-healing, durable, tacky mastic that provides excellent moisture resistance and padding of sharp
corners and other splice parts. Scotch™ Rubber Mastic Tape 2228 is a self-fusing rubber electrical tape that
features an EPR backing with a strong, temperature stable mastic adhesive.
3M™ Electrical Glass Cloth Tape 27. 3M offers exceptionally flexible and
conformable glass cloth backings on the market with high-temperature resistance and tensile strength. With
excellent absorption of resins and varnishes plus cut-through and edge-tear resistance, they are ideal for holding
and strapping applications up to 200°C.
Scotch® Vinyl Electrical Tapes combine the flexibility of a PVC backing with excellent electrical
insulating properties, high dielectric strength, and resistance to moisture, UV rays, abrasion, corrosion, alkalies
and acids. (Their rubber-based adhesive performs well over a range of temperatures). Fade-resistant vinyl
comes in a range of colors for marking. For primary electrical insulation up to 600 volts, including wire
harnessing, degaussing coils and high-voltage cables.
Taping Tips
Although challenging in its makeup and manufacture, vinyl electrical tape is relatively straightforward in its use.
Nevertheless, to ensure the safest, most reliable use, always:
● Apply tape with enough stretch to conform to the objects you’re wrapping. Be sure to let the last 50mm
relax before tabbing it down to prevent unwinding (sometimes called “flagging”).
● Wrap an irregular mechanical connector, such as a split bolt, with rubber or mastic tape to pad sharp
edges, before overwrapping it with vinyl electrical tape.
● Wrap cone-shaped (high voltage splices) “uphill” — that is, from the smallest to the largest point. This
way you always secure the previous layer.
● Always use scissors or a knife to cut tape. If you must tear it by hand, then keep fingers close together
when tearing tape. The farther apart they are, the more the tape will stretch before it tears.
● Use the right tape for the right conditions. Vinyl tapes are rated for cold-weather application in two
classes: 0°C and -18°C. Tapes formulated for high-temperature environments are typically rated 80°C
or 105°C.

18. Environment Policy
POLICY STATEMENT
As part of our commitment to achieving the principles of environmental sustainability in our
workplace, we recognize our moral and legal responsibility to ensure that our activities, products
and services are designed to enhance the environment in the communities in which we operate,
and to ensuring that our operations do not place the local community or environment at risk of
harm.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
We are committed to environmental improvement and prevention of pollution. We will work
with our customers, suppliers and the community to adopt procedures that
● Reduce waste through innovative work practices and recycling practices
● Minimize environmental impacts by reduction of polluting substances produced
● Minimize the impact of our operations on the neighboring community
● Increase the use of environmentally acceptable materials, equipment and technology in
place of those which are considered harmful
● Ensure that our suppliers follow acceptable environmental policies, and
● Actively promote environmental awareness among staff, clients, customers and the general
public.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We recognize that the overall responsibility environmental sustainability rests with management,
who will be accountable for the implementation of this policy. These responsibilities includes;
● Ensuring that all environmental policies and procedures are implemented;
● Establishing measurable objectives and targets to ensure continued improvement aimed at
the elimination of waste, pollution and environmental harm;
● Encouraging consultation and co-operation between management, employees and
stakeholders in matters which may affect or impact on the environment; and
● Providing adequate resources to meet these environmental commitments.
Employees also have responsibilities, which include –
● Following all environmental policies and procedures; and
● Recognizing and reporting hazards which may affect the health and well-being of the
environment.

19. As part of our commitment to achieving the principles of health and safety in our workplace, we
recognize our moral and legal responsibility to provide a safe and healthy work environment for
employees, contractors, customers and visitors. This commitment also extends to ensuring that
our operations do not place the local community or environment at risk of injury, illness or
damage.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
We will adopt procedures to
● Provide and maintain healthy and safe workplaces, safe plant and systems of work;
● Provide written procedures and instructions to ensure safe work practices;
● Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and current industry standards;
● Provide such information, instruction, training and supervision to employees, contractors
and customers as is necessary to ensure their continued health and safety; and provide
support and assistance to employees and involve them in consultation on safety issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We recognize that the overall responsibility to provide a safe workplace rests with management,

the elimination of work-related injuries and illnesses; and

● Following all OHS policies and procedures; and
● Recognizing hazards which may affect the health and safety of themselves, others, or the
environment.
We are committed to encouraging consultation and co-operation between management and
employees, and will formally involve elected employee health and safety representatives in any
workplace change or any matters that may affect the health and safety of employees in any
workplace.
