This document summarizes a survey conducted in 8 European countries regarding perceptions of major US tech giants and their impact in Europe. The key findings are:
1) Respondents have mixed views on whether tech giants preserve important European values like privacy and artists' rights to compensation.
2) A majority perceive tech giants like Google and Facebook as having more power than the European Union.
3) Most believe tech giants compromise the proper functioning of European democracies through their influence.
4) There is strong support for new EU rules ensuring artists are compensated when their content appears online.
5) Respondents also think platforms should pay media companies when reusing their content.
