2. • It is single standard RNA virus with genome
of 10,794 kb length.
• Zika virus is a mosquito-borne flavivirus
that was first identified in Uganda in 1947 in
monkeys. It was later identified in humans
in 1952 in Uganda .

through the bite of an infected Aedes
species mosquito (Ae. aegypti and Ae.
albopictus).
