2. INTRODUCTION
Nursing is a profession which improves personal
service. A nursing student’s personality is one of
the important resources he/she uses in rendering
service during clinical experience. Thus, the nurse
educator must be deeply concerned about the
attitudes and the values the nursing students
develops towards home visits. This will provide
information on the student’s attitude on learning in
the clinical environment.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
4. DEFINITION
HOME VISITING :
Home visiting means the visit of a nurse to
a family and the health services provided by nursing
students to the community.
Home visit is a purposeful interaction in a
home directed at promoting and maintaining the
health of individuals and the family.
A major distinction of a home visit is that
the health professional goes to the client rather than
the client coming to the health professional. 4
5. NURSING STUDENTS :
In this study, nursing students
are those who have been already exposed to the
field and completed the hours of field experience.
ATTITUDE :
In this study, attitude refers to the verbal
expression of feeling of nursing students regarding
home visiting. This is measured by an attitude scale
and expressed in form of attitude scores.

- To determine the attitude of nursing students towards
home visiting.
- To field the association between attitude and selected
demographic variable.
- To determine the factors influencing the attitudes of
nursing students towards home visiting.
7. HYPOTHESES

H1- There will be a significant association between
attitude scores and selected demographic variables.
H2- There will be a difference in the attitude of IInd
year and IVth year B.Sc nursing students.
H3- There will be an association between attitude and
factors influencing attitude of nursing students.
8. MATERIALS & METHODS
1. SOURCE OF DATA :-
Nursing students of a
selected college of nursing in Mangalore.
2. RESEARCH DESIGN :-
The present study adopts
descriptive survey design.

9. METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION
SAMPLE SIZE :-
Sample size comprised of 118 B.Sc
Nursing students,
INSTRUMENTS OR TOOLS TO BE USED :-
Tools used for the study
were attitude scale and rating scale.

10. POPULATION :-
The population selected for the study
comprised of nursing students who has been
exposed to the community field experience and able
to build rapport with the family, identified the
problems and give care according to the needs of
the family and available at the time of data collection.
DATA COLLECTION METHOD :-
Permission will be
obtained from the concerned authority and informed
consent will be obtained from the subjects. Attitude
scale questionaire will be administered to the
subjects and then it will be collected and analyzed
the data.

12. RESULT
Acc. To H1 :-
- The attitude score of majority both II year B.Sc (96.6%) and IV
year B.Sc (88.1%) nursing students ranged between 51-75%.
- It can be inferred that the sample had favourable attitude
towards home visiting.
Acc. To H2 (COMPARISON ):-
There was significant
difference between attitude of II year and IV year nursing
students towards home visiting. It is evident that compared to II
year students those in IV year had more favourable attitude
towards home visiting.

13. Acc. To H3 (CORRELATION BETWEEN
ATTITUDE & FACTORS INFLUENCING) :-
- There was a positive correlation between the
attitude and factors influencing the attitude of nursing
towards home visiting.
- Hence null hypothesis was rejected and
research hypothesis was accepted.

14. CONCLUSION
- From the findings of the study it can be concluded that the 2nd
year B.Sc nursing students had favourable attitudes towards
home visiting compared to 4th year nursing students.
- As the factors influencing attitude of nursing students
increased, their attitude became favourable towards home
visiting because there is a positive correlation between the
attitude of nursing students and factors influencing their
attitude.
- However, the 4th year B.Sc nursing students had(8.5%)
highly favourable attitude towards home visiting.

15. NURSING IMPLICATIONS
NURSING EDUCATION :-
This study highlights the need
to instil in the students a more positive attitude
towards home visiting such as increasing practical
hours which will help in attaining the educational
objectives.

16. NURSING PRACTICE :-
The nurse plays a vital and
major role in health care delivery system. Instead of
providing treatment to the patients, the nurse should
be interested in health promotion. If the students
show a positive attitude towards home visiting,
naturally the quality of care provided to the patients
& community will improve.

17. NURSING RESEARCH :-
Nursing research is an essential aspect of
nursing as it uplifts the profession, develops new
nursing norms and enhances the nursing
knowledge. It also improves the image and
perception of nursing in the society which is
necessary for future of nursing.

18. NURSING ADMINISTRATION :-
The nurse
administration plays a vital part in the education of all
nurses who are working along with community
through organizing community health education,
programmes, conducting in- services education
programmes and continuing education programmes.
