for making computer power as easy to access as an electric power
grid. Lan Foster, Carl Kesselman and Steve Tuecke are regarded as
the “Fathers of Grid Computing”.
• Grid computing is a term referring to the combination of computer
resources from multiple administrative domains to reach a common
goal.
• Distributed or Grid computing in general is a special type of parallel
computing that relies on complete computers connected to a
network by a conventional network interface such as Ethernet.
5. • Grids are typically managed by Grid ware. Grid ware can be viewed as
a special type of middleware that enables sharing and manage grid
components based on user requirements and resource attributes one
of the main strategies of grid computing is to use middleware to
divide and apportion pieces of a program among several computers
sometimes up to many thousands. Grid computing involves
computation in a distributed manner.

20. Business Intelligence Warehouse
– OLAP
• In today’s dynamic world we would like to have a flexible reporting
system, in which we have a quick run through of various sectors,
various fields, various data connected with different functional areas
may be materials, sales, production planning, hr, etc.
• Business intelligence warehouse is a collection of data, normalising of
data in terms of extraction, transformation and loading into another
data base which is called as data warehouse from there we take
extract the data into a disciplined way for its utilisation. For which
different ODS are created after which different cubes are there for its
appropriate utilisation.
21. • Business Intelligence utilises a lot of computer systems due to which
there is a lot of data in different systems. The structured data comes
into existence due to various business transactions that we perform
like procuring material, selling material, producing material, sending
invoices etc.
• For making your business successful we need to find out the business
environment as on date, take help of all the data that we have got
and then compile these ideas to come on a final decision.
22. • Technology only helps to fetch and display out the data.
• If we know our business well we will be able to know the relevant
fields for the ODS formation. For a successful business we need to
form a structured ODS.
• For a good business intelligence warehouse we need to understand
our business logic and perspective.

are many colleges and institute which are now offering logistics as a
part of education.
33. • Globally the governments should recognise logistics as a different
sector.
• If the infrastructure is improved and maintained properly 50% of the
problems will be solved.
• Networking is something which a person should like when he enters
this industry. Man manning is also important for a person at higher
levels.

also helps in hiring the right talent through better filtering of the core
competencies required for the job and eliminating the unqualified
candidates. It helps in shortening the recruitment cycle by getting
only those candidates who possess the skills as mentioned in the
framework and putting them in the right department from day one to
ensure the efficiency and effectiveness is maintained. Overall, the
necessity of a Competency Framework is a must for every
organization, but it is with the support of the management that its
effectiveness can be rightly put in place.
36. Personal Branding
• The most important thing for a person is personal brand and standing
out in the social world. Because our challenge is through the web,
computer, and the written world, it requires a different approach than
meeting a person.
• This concept is similar to how people communicate. Most people are
standing a few feet from each other speaking to each other with the
mouth moving but little less energy or emotion. One person you
notice has a crowd around them and is using their hands, smiling,
animated, having fun and engaging others to have fun and
participate, too. Their energy is stimulating others energy.
• We all have the potential to be this and do this.
37. • Our “persona” is both internal and external. For some it comes easier than
others.
Some of the things we can do to develop internal and external persona:
• Develop a professional appearance and image

• Discover your communication style
• Nurture and manage relationships
• Mentor others
• Advocate and support others
• Volunteer and give back
38. TEAM COMPOSITION
• A good team work always determines the success of the organisation.
• Yet we see entrepreneurs and senior executives struggle to get this
one right. And if this aspect is not right, there is a risk of all the other
objectives getting de-railed.
• The beginning of the project you need someone who can be creative,
imaginative, someone who can think out of box, give big ideas etc.
Person who has these traits can be apt. You also need someone who
is outgoing, enthusiastic, and communicative, someone who explores
opportunities and develops contacts. Person having such traits can be
termed as ‘Resource Investigator’.
39. SKILL DEVELOPMENT

first step to enhance the skills of the employees and also develop a
sense of loyalty in towards their employer.

development programs. Many organisations now have online portals

the long run.

contributing towards the success of an organization are its most
crucial resource. Employees can either make or break an organization,

Entertainment’s World of Warcraft gives players a collaborative gaming
experience.
• Network – External relationships and partnerships. E.g. Toshiba
collaborated with UPS to repair Toshiba laptops.
• Brand – The promise you make. E.g. Virgin. From Cola to Space travel, all
the many Virgin companies share a fun, challenger image.

of each plan has been differentiated and is targeted more towards the
needs of the 3 segments; the students, the professionals and the
SMBs.
• The new initiatives helps the company to keep pace with the rising
demand for knowledge and access to opportunity.
• The initiatives as announced, begins with the LinkedIn Light, which is
meant for the public at general, and even the students for that
matter, who are a ‘mobile-first’ audience, yet face infrastructure
challenges when it comes to operating on the web, through their
mobiles.
46. • LinkedIn Starter pack, this product is targeted at SMBs (Small and Medium-
sized Businesses), who remain disorganized and fragmented in their efforts
to bring in talent into their business. The Starter Pack will be more
upgraded, and will give these SMBs a better marketing, hiring, and learning
solutions on the single platform, for utilizing their hidden potential as
enterprises. Currently in the pilot phase, this is being offered on a ‘first-
come-first-serve’ basis to SMBs.
• LinkedIn currently does not have a competition in this space. They have
launched their pilot projects for these products, which will give them a
‘first-mover’ advantage.
• The financial viability will be tested with the business model they make for
these products, especially when they go mainstream into the market.
47. CREATING A SUCCESSFUL MOBILE APP
• Developing good applications has made a lot of people very rich and
famous overnight, and that is why this industry continues to attract
new developers. Every year millions of applications are launched but
only a few of them get noticed. Sometimes it becomes a great
disaster of the time and money invested in the app when it doesn’t
become noticed by people.
• The hardest part is to convince the user to download and try the app
for the first time.
48. • The first thing which motivates someone to download an app are:
1) Good icon design
2) Catchy app name
3) Well written description etc.
• The app reaches the users in the following way :
1) By being featured on the store
2) By being referred by friend
3) By watching ads on Facebook
4) Mention of app in Blogs
5) Mention in Awards for apps
49. OVERCONFIDENCE - A CAREER
OBSTACLE
• Overconfidence does not protect you from mistakes. The person with star
sickness is so confident in himself that he forgets about being cautious. He
forgets to ask for advice, double-check things, and test all. As a result, the
probability of failures increases.
• Confidence is a useful thing. However, there is a point where it develops
into a star sickness. Star sickness can become a serious career obstacle.
• If you notice signs of star sickness once, remember that success is a relative
concept. The road to it resembles the horizon that always runs away. There
is always way to perfection and something you should aspire to. There is
always some higher level you need to achieve.
