Personal statement
I am an experienced industry accredited Fibre Engineer with my own tools and splicer, working to a very high
specification. Previous clients include LAN2LAN, Computacenter UK, Atkins Group and NG Bailey. My key strengths
are the ability to communicate and understand people at all levels. I am keen to learn new skills and use them to the
best of my ability. I am an excellent timekeeper and approach problems in a logical manner. If given the opportunity, I
am able to offer a punctual, efficient and professional service to the customer whilst understanding their needs and
expectations; this would reflect well on the services that my employer offers. I’m fit with a positive attitude, and am self-
motivated, comfortable working unsupervised or as part of a team.
Work experience
Jan 2016 - present Lead Fibre Optic Engineer, EMCOR, HSE Porton Down
Cross-site LAN projects on live networks and laboratories. Work is time sensitive (laboratories must be completed
within an 8 hour period). Average room/laboratory has 20 points, new trunking, UPVC work, terminating, labelling etc.
Testing, sealing up and repatching the new system to go live. Despatching live systems and handover of network and
laboratory back to client. Work requires a fine eye, problem solving skills and is finished to a very high specification.
Structured cable CAT7.F/UPT cable, over 2000 outlets/termination completed to date.
Nov 2015 - Dec 2015 Lead Fibre Optic Engineer, Blackbox, MLR Data/Networks
To install, terminate and test, multiple cross-site cables to 120 high end/spec static homes. 250 separate internal points
to be installed, terminated and tested. CAT6a. This included investigating and amending routes taken from 40
distribution points to relevant accommodation. Installing switches/routers internally, ensuring they were low
impact/aesthetically pleasing. Working with Ducting and surface engineers to keep to schedule.
Jul 2014 - Nov 2015 Fibre Optic & Commissioning Engineer, National Air Traffic Training School
Duties were structured cabling, working with CAT6a panel terminations. Working as part of a 6 man specialised team,
this was to ensure that the Air Traffic Controllers individual workstations were installed, earthed and the relevant
screens and audio equipment worked in conjunction with the projects needs.
2012 - Jul 2014 Fibre Optic Engineer, IKM Networks
Works completed at IKM, Computacenter UK and Capita on Heathrow T3 IB. T2 retail inducted and ongoing works for
shop fit out including CAT 6a, CAT 5 and CAT 5e. Worked with S.W.A 144 fibre, prep, 24, 48 96 core. Voice 100 pair,
splicing single-mode and multi-mode. OTDR testing, and patching. Currently holding five-year blue airport security
clearance pass.
2011 - 2012 CAT6 Fibre Engineer, Virgin Media
Fibre optic, telephony, cable television (Inc TiVo) and broadband installations. I attended service related calls with
customers. Duties also included attending customer sites to connect and test their connection to the network while
meeting the required company standards by meeting agreed business key performance indicators.
2010 - 2011 Telecommunications Engineer, Virgin Media

2006 - 2010 Train Driver, Silverlink Trains
Qualified Mainline Train Driver Train driving passenger transport. Using a wide range of rules and regulations,
diagnosing faults and dealing with safety on the trains and the infrastructure on which they ran.
