every open project, it required one Investigator to be allocated to this work on a full-time
basis. This was not optimal utilization of an Investigators skills and abilities.

WRPS purchased an investigation aid from G2 Research called the ICU Workbench. The ICU
Workbench is software that allows an Analyst/Investigator to quickly analyze location data
and automatically create a pattern of life, visitation patterns, and perform crime-network
identification.
After using the ICU Workbench, a number of positive outcomes occurred. Firstly, the
tracking data for the previous day was appended and analyzed in the context of all other
data for that suspect. This provided greater intelligence on the targets, allowing for
immediate pattern, anomaly, and suspicious behaviour identification. More importantly,
the speed by which the same type of reports that previously were manually generated was
reduced significantly. The process now allows the analyst to provide much deeper insights
into the suspect’s activities and behaviours while putting the Investigator back on the streets
armed with much more powerful intelligence.
WRPS has gained significantly from their investment. The process of analyzing the location
data is no longer as time-consuming and cumbersome. The simplicity, clarity, and depth of
reporting from the ICU Workbench not only yields superior intelligence from the location
data they collect—it does so without dedicating a costly resource to do it.
