Experience
From 2012 to June 2014 I was a Project/Stakeholder Manager in the Ministry for
Public Service and Administration (DPSA), responsible amongst others
Stakeholders Management for DPSA Institutions that reported to the Ministry for
Public Service and Administration, under the leadership of the Deputy Minister,
which were the then PALAMA, State Information Technology Agency (SITA),
Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI), Government Employees Medical
Scheme (GEMS). Later, the Institutions were limited to CPSI and GEMS.
I was also part of the team that was managing the “Open Government
Partnership” (OGP) which was started by President Barak Obama in the US and
South African President GJ Zuma and SA is amongst the 8 founding countries

that are in the OGP Steering Committee with US, UK, Norway, Brazil, Indonesia,
Philippines and Tanzania. The OGP has been joined by over 55 countries
globally and it has various sub-committees and South Africa Chairs the Peer
Learning and Support Sub-committee (PLS).
Amongst my responsibilities for the OGP was to engage stakeholders various
Civil Societies in our country about 20 also other governments in Africa Region
and Civil Society in Africa for OGP programmes. We also worked closely with the
African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) within DPSA.
I also write poetry as a hobby and I have completed three Poetry Books (all not
yet published): the 1st
is “Day to Day Living”, the 2nd
is “ That’s The Way It Is”
and the 3rd
one is called “It is truly Happening”.
During 2010 I was a Senior Manager: Corporate Planning in the Department of
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), being part of the team
that was responsible for department strategic plan, development of the
organizational business plan and operational plans in partnership with various
branches, including the organizational performance information. We were also
responsible for the departmental projects management, review and reporting,
performance review and overall management of producing the Annual
Performance Report.
From 2008 to 2009 I was the Senior Manager: Administrative Secretary in the
Ministry for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. I was responsible
for liaison between the Cabinet Secretariat in the Presidency and other Ministries
on matters that relates to Cabinet work to ensure a smooth flow of information
amongst all concern. To scrutinize the contents of the external Cabinet
Memorandums and decide which pertinent issues relating to the Department of
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs that should be brought to the
attention of the Minister, Deputy Minister through the office of the Director
General. Receive, compile, and disseminate inputs on Cabinet documents that
impact on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs department in order
for the Minister and the Deputy Minister to be well prepared when attending the
Cabinet, Cabinet Committee Meetings and the Government Lekgotla’s.
Brief the Minister on Cabinet matters that needs attention. Set up and manage
the collation and distribution process of internal departmental cabinet
memoranda to the President, various Ministries and to the Cabinet Secretariat.
Manage the compilation process of Cabinet files for the Minister that will be used
during Cabinet meetings. Save keeping of all cabinet memorandums, cabinet
minutes, Cabinet Lekgotla’s documents and minutes and to follow up on all
cabinet decisions that has an impact on the Department of Cooperative
Governance and Traditional Affairs.

I liaised with the VIP Protectors and their Head Office and to also oversee the
matters of security in the Ministry to ensure the safety of the Minister and Deputy
Minister, manage the pool of vehicles allocated to the Pretoria and Cape Town
Ministry offices. Managed the refurbishment of office furniture, stationery etc.
including the Minister’s residence in collaboration with the Department of Public
Works.
From November 2008 to May 2008, I was the Acting Chief of Staff for the
Ministry of CoGTA responsible for the budget, strategic management and
support, advice the Minister on administrative matters. Overall management of
the Ministry Office which included trips authorizations, staff training, performance
agreements, work planes, including quarterly and yearly reviews and appraisals.
Being the Chief of Staff also required to work with stakeholders such as such as
the Traditional Leaders, Local Municipalities Councilors, Community
Development Workers (CDW’), and Ward Councilors. Including attending all
Minister’s meetings, write reports and to follow up on all decision taken during
meetings.
During 2007-2008 I was the Senior Manager: Gender and Transformation in the
Ministry of Arts and Culture in the office of the Deputy Minister. My job
responsibilities entailed the development of strategies aimed at the promotion of
women empowerment and gender equality, to develop a database of all women-
specific or gender related programmes, to identify gaps in terms of sector
specific-targets for Women Empowerment, responsible for SADC Declaration on
Gender and Development including other National and International reports on
issues that relates to women.
Develop the monitoring tool for delivery on gender imperatives; develop a
preferential funding mechanism for grants aimed at empowering women, to
assist women to play a leading role in overcoming cultural environmental barriers
in arts and culture also research and speech writing.
During 2004 to 2007, I was the Senior Manager: Head in the office of the
Member of the Executive Council (MEC) in Mpumalanga Province for Agriculture
and Land Administration and later after the reshuffling I was the Head for the
MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation. My responsibilities entailed the co-
ordination, management and supervision of International, National and Provincial
events, responsible for the Stakeholder Relations, to manage the budget of the
office, to write speeches for the MEC, attend, monitor, distribute and coordinate
the flow of correspondence of the office.
To accompany the MEC to official functions, to update the MEC on legislative
and policy matters, to advice the MEC on administrative and political matters,
attend and record the meetings attended by the MEC and also attend meetings
on behalf of the MEC and to ensure the implementation thereof, responsible for

the smooth running of the office, to manage the staff, liaise with the office of the
Head of Department (HOD) and that of the Premier and other Departments to
also evaluate the staff for promotion and for training purposes. We also worked
with stakeholders such as the Community Leaders, Traditional Leadership, and
the organized and non-organized Agricultural Stakeholders.
During the same period I was seconded to work with the MEC for Economic
Development and Planning in Mpumalanga and responsible for more or less the
same function as that of the MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation for a period
of 3 months.
NGO experience
During 2003-2004 I was the Project Administrator for University Research CO.
(URC)/ Quality Assurance Project (SA) which is an International Company based
abroad in Bethesda (USA) and funded by USAID.
My responsibilities were the day-to-day management of the Country Office and
financial management of projects, to prepare, analyze and process monthly
financial reports, responsible for preparing the budget and to process the pay roll,
develop systems and ensure compliance with administrative and financial
policies and procedures, maintain the record keeping of leave and sick leave,
management of the inventory and to handle the big events of the company,
Accountable for the overall management of the office and to give support to the
field workers in all the five Provinces where the company was operating in,
responsible for the payment of all the suppliers, salary and claim payments of
staff members.
To manage the project procurement and to supervise financial aspects of grant
program, coordinate project activities with subcontractors and collaborative
organizations, responsible for the preparations of the field reports including
editing and proofreading other documents and introduced a monthly in-house
Magazine called “What’s Up at URP” which was updating all employees about
the activities of the organization with those working in the field and those in
United States of America.
Business experience
I used to be involved with the following companies as a Director, Women in
Energy which is a BEE shareholder at Sasol through their first empowerment
deal, Dinare Game, former Deputy Chairperson for Women in Oil and Energy
South Africa (Woesa) for Gauteng, a Section 21 Company for the empowerment
of Women for the equity stake in the oil industry after the Energy Charter was
signed for the 25% stake by all the oil companies in South Africa, established by
the then Minister of Minerals and Energy who later become the Deputy President
of the country Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka. I was a Director for Women in

Business within the consortium Umsingizane Dzi Thingo for Second National
Operator license. I also owned a Liquor Store.
During 2002, I had my own Liquor Store called Berry’s where I was an overall
Manager.
In 2001, I was actively engaged with business of Women and Energy of which I
am a Director.
1999 to 2000 I floated my own business as a franchisee for Exel Petroleum,
owning a Service Station and a 24-hour Quick Shop. My responsibilities
included the following,
• Management of employees, recruitment and placements, allocation of
services, interrelations with customers, suppliers, and workers, ordering of
goods, responsible for the company’s finances such as payments of
accounts, salaries monthly and budget, labour issues, training of staff,
product promotions and stock taking.
1996 to 1999 I was transferred to the office of the former Minister of
Minerals and Energy Dr. Pennuell Maduna to work as his Private
Secretary/Executive PA. My responsibilities included,
• Manage the Minister’s diary
• Arrange subsistence and accommodation for national and international
traveling,
• Handling of the Minister’s incoming and outgoing correspondence,
• Responding to some correspondence on behalf of the Minister,
• Receiving all Minister’s visitors,
• Accompany the Minister on official visits local and International,
• In 1997 and 1998 manage the Minister’s office dealing with
administration due to the vacant position of the Administrative Secretary,
• Handling all media related issues also due to the vacant position of the
PRO in the Minister’s office,
• Compiling the Minister’s programme for national and international visits
and
• Buying gifts for the Minister’s international visitors.
1986 to 1996 my duties when I was engaged with the Department of
Correctional Services, were the following,
• In 1994-1996 I was the first black female to work with the post apartheid
Minister of Correctional Services Dr. Sipo Mzimela as his Assistant Private
Secretary,

• 1994 I was the second black female to work at Correctional Services Head
Office as a journalist for their in-house magazine called “NEXUS
MAGAZINE”,
• 1989-1994 I was moved to a position of an Administration Clerk in hospital
and personnel section and
• 1986-1989 I was engaged as a prison guard/wardress

  • 5. the smooth running of the office, to manage the staff, liaise with the office of the Head of Department (HOD) and that of the Premier and other Departments to also evaluate the staff for promotion and for training purposes. We also worked with stakeholders such as the Community Leaders, Traditional Leadership, and the organized and non-organized Agricultural Stakeholders. During the same period I was seconded to work with the MEC for Economic Development and Planning in Mpumalanga and responsible for more or less the same function as that of the MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation for a period of 3 months. NGO experience During 2003-2004 I was the Project Administrator for University Research CO. (URC)/ Quality Assurance Project (SA) which is an International Company based abroad in Bethesda (USA) and funded by USAID. My responsibilities were the day-to-day management of the Country Office and financial management of projects, to prepare, analyze and process monthly financial reports, responsible for preparing the budget and to process the pay roll, develop systems and ensure compliance with administrative and financial policies and procedures, maintain the record keeping of leave and sick leave, management of the inventory and to handle the big events of the company, Accountable for the overall management of the office and to give support to the field workers in all the five Provinces where the company was operating in, responsible for the payment of all the suppliers, salary and claim payments of staff members. To manage the project procurement and to supervise financial aspects of grant program, coordinate project activities with subcontractors and collaborative organizations, responsible for the preparations of the field reports including editing and proofreading other documents and introduced a monthly in-house Magazine called “What’s Up at URP” which was updating all employees about the activities of the organization with those working in the field and those in United States of America. Business experience I used to be involved with the following companies as a Director, Women in Energy which is a BEE shareholder at Sasol through their first empowerment deal, Dinare Game, former Deputy Chairperson for Women in Oil and Energy South Africa (Woesa) for Gauteng, a Section 21 Company for the empowerment of Women for the equity stake in the oil industry after the Energy Charter was signed for the 25% stake by all the oil companies in South Africa, established by the then Minister of Minerals and Energy who later become the Deputy President of the country Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka. I was a Director for Women in 5
  • 6. Business within the consortium Umsingizane Dzi Thingo for Second National Operator license. I also owned a Liquor Store. During 2002, I had my own Liquor Store called Berry’s where I was an overall Manager. In 2001, I was actively engaged with business of Women and Energy of which I am a Director. 1999 to 2000 I floated my own business as a franchisee for Exel Petroleum, owning a Service Station and a 24-hour Quick Shop. My responsibilities included the following, • Management of employees, recruitment and placements, allocation of services, interrelations with customers, suppliers, and workers, ordering of goods, responsible for the company’s finances such as payments of accounts, salaries monthly and budget, labour issues, training of staff, product promotions and stock taking. 1996 to 1999 I was transferred to the office of the former Minister of Minerals and Energy Dr. Pennuell Maduna to work as his Private Secretary/Executive PA. My responsibilities included, • Manage the Minister’s diary • Arrange subsistence and accommodation for national and international traveling, • Handling of the Minister’s incoming and outgoing correspondence, • Responding to some correspondence on behalf of the Minister, • Receiving all Minister’s visitors, • Accompany the Minister on official visits local and International, • In 1997 and 1998 manage the Minister’s office dealing with administration due to the vacant position of the Administrative Secretary, • Handling all media related issues also due to the vacant position of the PRO in the Minister’s office, • Compiling the Minister’s programme for national and international visits and • Buying gifts for the Minister’s international visitors. 1986 to 1996 my duties when I was engaged with the Department of Correctional Services, were the following, • In 1994-1996 I was the first black female to work with the post apartheid Minister of Correctional Services Dr. Sipo Mzimela as his Assistant Private Secretary, 6
