Updates on Localized Coffee Roadmap
14. Updates on Localized Coffee Roadmap
CONSTRAINTS
INPUT/
PRODUCTION
High cost farm inputs
Limited access to high yielding planting materials
Land industrialization/Land conversion
Farmers are only practicing mono-cropping which deprives
them of the opportunity to have better soil and better yield
quality
POST-
HARVEST
Farmers have insufficient, if not lack of capacity to process
produce
Low adaptability to new postharvest technologies
Low access to quality and efficient machineries & equipment
Lack of standards for appropriate postharvest machinery &
equipment for coffee
MARKETING Farmers are often times disorganized and work as individual
producers, thus with lesser purchasing and negotiating
capacity.
Low level consciousness and product quality and standards
No traceability system of traded coffee especially inside the
country.
OPPORTUNITIES
Availability of government interventions especially to
intercropping of crops with coffee & cacao
Production is not enough to supply the demand of the
country
Coffee cop culture is increasing that even coffee
producing countries are hoarding their coffee for own
consumption
Increasing interest of farmers to venture into cacao &
coffee
Availability of government interventions
Availability of mobile buying stations of harvested coffee
Presence of consolidators and/exporters
Domestic markets is vastly undersupplied
