The document describes using different colored thinking hats to structure a brainstorming session. It discusses putting on the white hat to find easy solutions, the green hat to generate creative ideas with teammates, the red hat to generate ideas but with more difficulty, the blue hat where very few ideas were generated, the black hat to critically evaluate existing ideas, and the yellow hat being the hardest to generate ideas in an optimistic manner. In total, only about 10% of ideas came from the yellow hat. yellow hat is ‘hardest’

our ideas were created or evaluated
when putting on the yellow hat.

16. Let’s sum up. We started first without implicitly
putting on the hats, then went back putting
them on, and here we go… We came up with
some nice new ideas and also could evaluate
the already existing ideas in a different ‘light’.
