every year, there is a friendly competition
event for the German students of Kansas
about 300 students from all over the state
all levels
reading a text, reciting a
poem, spelling, “Kultur Quiz”
5.
walking around and speak with designated
students (usually exchange students from
Germany) earning Kongress Euro
buy German things in the “Tante Emma
Laden” (mom and pop store)
6.
all German students earn a project grade for
participating at the Schülerkongress (SK)
30 points for participation and 1st mandatory
competition
each additional competition earns you 3 pts
max. points for this project:
30 plus12 Extra Credit points

if you have another commitment, you get an
alternative assignment
you create a poster and a short movie, which
will be considered for the poster and movie
competition at SK 2014 (you have to work on
this on your own time, due March 5th, 2014)
if you are sick on short notice, there is no
make-up and no refund
details are in the parent/student letter
8.
each block: 20 minutes study time
10 minutes assessment
study with a “study buddy”
results are reported and average ranks your
class
all German classes compete with each other
winner has success at SK, earns personal
achievement and a Pizza on Frau Thrasher!

2 students per group (if uneven number, 3
maximum per group!)
briefly look over the “SK 2014 JCHS
Olympiade” paper and write down any
questions you may have about it
give them to your Guest Teacher
