Review:
Seiri or sort is the principle that means sorting through all
items in a location and removing all unnecessary items from
the workplace.
Seiton or systematize means setting all needed tools, items,
materials, and equipment in the order they are to be used.
Seiso or sweep means to clean the workplace thoroughly.
Seiketsu or standardized aims to maintain the high quality of
cleanliness and orderliness.
Shitsuke or sustain means to have the self-discipline to instill
the habit of cleaning.

Waste materials include containers & packages made of
plastic, polystyrene, paper, glass, metal, rubbers, and others.
Some of the wastes do not decompose but can be recycled.

Metal
Tins and cans as packaging or container of food and drinks
are made of metal and aluminum. They are good materials
for recycling. They are even sold to junkshops where
companies of food and drinks buy them to be reused to
conserve energy and other resources.

Paper
Old newspapers, old notebooks, old letters, cardboard, junk
office papers, and paper packaging are examples of paper
waste. These materials can be processed and recycled into
something useful and unique like paper baskets, paper-

Plastic
Empty plastic bottles and containers of soft drinks, water,
oil, and other products are great recyclable materials. The
plastics are soft and bendable. They can be cut with scissors
and cutters to form them into figures like flowers, animals,
butterflies, and other decorative products. Huge plastic
bottles are even made as pots for flowers and vegetables.

Glass
Glass among others is the easiest material to reuse or
recycle. Empty bottles of various products come in different
variants, colors, and sizes. They are best turned into wall
decors, flower vases, and holders of artificial or fresh
flowers. Empty wine glasses add elegance to the wall and
cabinets of the house when displayed artistically.

Safety Precaution
• Always use protective gloves and PPEs when handling
waste especially those that have sharp edges, pointed
parts, and those that are chemically hazardous.
• Use masks when handling vapor-based wastes.
• Do not directly damage pressurized canisters and tanks.
• Avoid using fire in disposing of waste materials.
• Report to authorities when biohazard and/or nuclear
waste are found.
• Consult medical personnel when in contact with possible
contaminated medical waste.
