1. This scene caused a big impression on me when
I watched the film.

It's all about this remote control, the bombs,
and the pilots, specifically about the pilot of the
last bomber standing.
The ship design allows for a very interesting set
because of its vertical height, which brings a lot
of drama.
The pilot stays on the right side of the screen at
all times in these shots.
2. An abrupt cut to the outside is made to show
how the bomber ship gets shot and blown out.
The fire expands to other ships as well.
The pilot is surprised by ship's explosion and is
unable to press the button to drop the bombs.

I liked how the face of the first pilot (in the pre
vious page) is not shown. It is until panel 16 that
we are introduced to the hero of the sequence.
We can connect with the character by her
expression as we are probably feeling the same.

Orders are given to take down the last bomber.
If they don't stop it, the big imperial ship will
fall.
The wide shot shows us why the rebel bomber is
so important. It gives us context of how high are
the stakes for this character.
4. Poe tells her everything lies on her shoulders.

She comes into the bomb chamber and looks
up. She sees the ship's pilot pilot lying above,
passed out or dead. The remote control a few
inches away from his hand.
She has to go up and take the remote control. I
like the close ups here, and her expressions
really tell everything she's thinking without
saying a word.
5. I really liked the set design. The bomb columns
really add a dangerous tone to the whole
sequence and create almost a claustrophobic
effect.

When she tries to grab the remote, the ship gets
damaged by a tie fighter, causing her to slip and
fall.

6. This extreme closeup felt very flat but it was
effective in showing us she's still alive. It's rely
ing entirely on her acting with little BG ele
ments.

7. This is when the tension really ramps up. We
feel connected to this character because some
times we just need a small thing or action to
change something, but sometimes it feels so far.

She keeps kicking the ladder, but it's doing
nothing, so she starts to get desperate.

Looks like she can barely move, so she can't
stand up and go for it again. She kicks the stairs
hoping to make it fall.
8. Outside, the tie fighters hit the bomber.
This exterior shots make look the bomber ship
very fragile because it's so small on the screen,
and tie fighters fly and shoot at it.
I only put Poe's slow-mo reaction here, but
there are other cuts with other characters in
pursuit of adding tension.
We as an audience see that the remote is actu
ally moving with the kicks, just not enough. Will
she able to make it?

The imperial general forces immediate action to
take the bomber down.
She takes a deep breath and...
10. I loved this symmetrical shot. It makes us focus
on the remote and its fall, as well as the subject
of this whole sequence.
Kicks one more time. The remote control falls,
but we think "how's is she going to grab it if she
can't move?"
The remote passes her platform and will proba
bly fall into space.
11. Panels 64-65 are uncut, and the camera makes a
long pan from bottom to top to see how all the
bombs fall.
But she makes a final effort, and grabs the
remote and releases the bombs from ship.
12. The bombs fall and hit target, the large imperial
ship. The bomber ship was also hit, and will fall
along.
This shot was very symbolical because we see
the small ship take down the biggest one. The
last efforts of our hero were not in vain.
